Summary

Zoey Daniels has been tossed from foster home to foster home, where she grows up fast and tough. When she is placed in her "last chance" home, she finds a reason to stay and turn her life around: her foster sister, Lexie, who is paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair.

After high school, Zoey is hired by a special government agency, the Department of Molecular Genetics (DMG), where she meets the other reason to remain: Daniel, her coworker. The man she loves. But there is something unique about Zoey. She can see fae. Because of this, the DMG hires her to work as a Collector: catching, researching, testing, and using the fae to save human lives. The work never registers on her sympathy radar. She was raised to think of fae as beasts that feed on humans and want to destroy them.

When devastation hits Seattle, Zoey's whole world is turned upside down. The electric storm connects her to a ruthless fae, a Wanderer named Ryker, whose dealings expose them to even more trouble and danger. They embark on a journey, running and hiding from both the government and fae, both of which threaten their lives and those they love.

A gripping storyline

I initially listened to this because it is part of the included catalogue and what a find. I couldn't stop listening until I'd finished the whole series and happily used a credit to get the last book.

The story is gripping and you get really involved with the characters. I also really liked the narrator - very easy to listen to and she did a good job with the different voices.

I definitely recommend this series. I'm now off to check out other books by the same author hoping for something equally good!

I love this series!!

This story is fast paced, thrilling and a definite must read/listen to. I love Sprig, he brings some light hearted humour at some really tense and inappropriate times 😊. Having read all of the books several times now it was a treat to listen to this book on audio. The narration is seamless and easy to listen to drawing you in from the very start of the book.

offensive to people with disabilities and black people

outdated language and disturbing description of the disabled sisters legs. Also often stating that she is pretty despite being disabled. awful

Good for one

Please Be Aware That It's A Teen Novel, with A Good Story, World And Character Build. The Main Character's Personality Is A Bit Forced For Me(Zoey).

1StarMinus Because The Storyline Is Kinda Predictable, And The MC Grates Me Time To Time With This Teen Attitude In Her Twenties....

So4Star For The Idea Of The Story, The World Building(ForcedApocalyps), Interesting Twists, The Potential Of The Story That The Storyline Indicates, And For Creating RikerAnd This Lovely MonkeySprite.

The Narration Is Good, Sometimes A Bit Confusing That almost Every Male Has Almost The Same Accent And VoiceHigh( I dunno how to express it), Even So It's Enjoyable.

Not complete huge ever progressing story line BUT

it's a great little story line with huge cliffhanger for book 2 which I'm about to listen to now. This isent your average romantic side story either with is refreshing. Its a good story line somewhat different also, ie joyed this book but I think book 2 is going to have a much bigger story as there are so many ways this coukd go as its left with quite a few different parts that now need answers and fixing.
narrator very good story for me 4.5 stars out of 5 an looking forward to next listen now.

DNF at 20% - the lab scene with the questions made me uncomfortable

A story that felt yeah I’m badass with a bit of forced badassness- also the accents on the performance was questionable
