Summary

Follow a NYC cop through a devastated Manhattan as he's forced to fight off an inhuman horde of creatures.
My name is Frank Moon, and I used to be a detective with the NYPD. I say "used to" because ever since the demon, Abaddon, came for a visit, nothing's been the same.
Okay, so technically it wasn't the fallen angel himself that arrived in Manhattan. It was actually a meteor, and due to its blood-red coloration, the description stuck. Almost immediately after "Abaddon" arrived something horrifying happened. People started changing, turning into the things of nightmares right before my eyes. Some were my friends. Some neighbors. Some were just people passing through. Either way, they didn't deserve that fate. No one did.
Now, I only care about one thing...
Finding my wife and getting the hell off this island alive.

Great adventure

Love sci-fi and this didn't disappoint at all. Great narration from Brian Holden, believable and quality character work.

Felt like a one man show

Would you listen to Dead Moon again? Why?

Sure. I overall enjoyed the story, but I think Brian Holden made it feel like a one man show, so it made everything much more fun and intriguing.

What other book might you compare Dead Moon to and why?

I'd maybe compare this to something like R.L. Stine. I'm not sure.

What about Brian Holden’s performance did you like?

Brian's very lively. His voices for the different characters are perfect. He's so funny, and really does bring the whole story to life. Like I said he made it feel more like a one man show than just someone narrating a book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It's a spoiler! But it was a great moment haha

Any additional comments?

Brian Holden should narrate more books on here!

The action doesn't stop

As Barney Stinson said in HIMYM, "people often think a good mix should rise and fall, but people are wrong. It should be all rise, baby". Dead Moon is all rise, baby.

This book is all about the action, and the author does a good job keeping it from getting overly repetitive. The story line is very much like a video game, with action taking pride of place over back story and character development. Narrator Brian Holden takes up the slack here, and does a great job of putting more personality into the main character, which would be missing with the words alone.

Despite the minor pro-gun agenda (which seems inevitable in any post apocalyptic narrative) this is a fun, easy listen, with a quick pace. It won't have you asking any deep questions, but it will keep you entertained.
