Summary

After accidentally discovering the possible existence of a second Guardian book, Lusam and his party are remorselessly hunted high into the Elveen mountains by the Empire agents, who are intent on killing or capturing them. What they discover there may very well change the balance of power in their favor against the Thule Empire.
But their discovery will count for nothing if they cannot reach Lamuria in time to try and stop the massive invasion force sent by Lord Zelroth, who is intent on destroying their capital and stealing the High Temple's secrets for himself. Lusam inadvertently discovers a long guarded secret of Lord Zelroth's, one that will profoundly change his own life forever and force him to take action that he may very well not be prepared for.

Good book

Story flowed very well and was narrated expertly. A good edition to the fantasy world.

flat characters, boring plot and fast forward

I liked the first two, despite the constant over use of descriptors. e.g. she looked out of the cave entrace to see agents coming towards the cave entrance. soon the agents coming towards the cave entrance would reach the cave entrance. I'm not even joking, It's that bad.
there was WAY too much of this in the third one. the characters seemed incapable of doing anything without explaining it in depth like they were eight years old. no subtlety, no body language other than a shrug, a grin or a smile. too many history lessons and the characters just blather on and on and on without getting to the point until the last few comments. would be good if it had an impact on the story but 90% of the backstory is totally irelevant and without emotional connection. pointless.
narrator has an annoying tendency to sound constipated or in pain, like he's urging the words out rather than simply speaking them clearly.
on the whole I was expecting more of the same from the first two but got so sick and tired of the blather and 2d characters that I gave up half way through.
sorry to the author but if you don't trim out the pointless repetition of already stated nouns, you can't expect me to give it five stars. It ruined the experience totally.

redundance-athon

I know that authors want to present a Paragon of virtue but how about we kill the evil enemy. When the protagonist tells them where to run away instead of killing them, he might as well add "just so you can threaten those I love later". I am looking forward to an author who presents a character with a mental age greater than 12. And what's up with every ship voyage resulting in someone with pathetic seasickness. Cliches are tiring.
