Summary

Everyone has heard of the French and Indian War and the American Revolution. However, they have not heard about them this way! The American Founding Fathers had a lot more to deal with at the end of the 18th century than tariffs and tea; avoiding hurled trees from wendigos and gargoyles falling from the sky took a lot of patience. How is Samuel Prescott supposed to hunt the leader of the Rippers when the British keep infringing upon the colonists' rights?

My TOP TEN just became ELEVEN

When I chose this story it was an experiment to a different style, it began filling me with dread, America fighting for colonial independence, however within 5 minutes I was totally addicted. Penny dreadfull on steroids. Loved ever second of this riveting original story. A truly jaw ache of whit and historical banter, Peter Clark writes in a way I have not seen . Changing from the first to second person perspective, and openly mocking his own historical fiction. Extending what I believed to be a historical story to something of compelling fantasy. Michael Gilboe's portrayals of most the historical figures of the time, and the FRENCH was genius, his Scottish and French accents never failed to make me actually laugh out loud. Spot on choice of Narrator as can not imagine this read any other way. I loved it.

Quirky

A funny alternate history of the beginnings of the USA that includes werewolves, zombies and the occasional succubus. It is a tongue in cheek kind of book that is funny for the first hour but then I sort of lost interest. I intend to go back to it when I need a nonsensical read to lighten my mood.

Midnight Book Riders

Midnight Riders by Pete Clark is the third book by someone i never heard of before that surprised me in a good way. Is it the best thing ever? Neh, but gosh this is funny! Yeah, this is a funny book, and who does not like a funny book? Midnight Riders is a alternate history of the beginnings of the USA book, and i love that.

Is Michael Gilboe a good narrator? Well, yes and no. I think he brings something to the book with this reading. Saying that is good, but it took some time to get used to his reading style, and i think you ether hate it or love it, and after a long time i loved him. So i wouldrecomnd his reading style!
