Summary

Nothing is ever what it seems-including me.

The Midwest Pack has three goals: Protect the pack. Protect the pack. And yeah, protect the pack.

I have my own goal: Live a simple life and hope no one ever discovers that the quiet young woman next door turns into a wolf.

All my efforts go up in flames when a vampire attack draws the attention of the Midwest Pack. The next thing I know, I'm staring down Ethan, a handsome and alluring alpha, as he demands to know what I am. Not who. What. The pack was warned that I'm not just a werewolf but a weapon-one that could be used against them.

A weapon? Me? I'd love to dismiss it as a case of mistaken identity, but I've become the supernaturals' Most Wanted overnight. The vampires have put a bounty on my head. A necromancer attempts to kill me in a room full of people. And a mysterious witch is watching me far too closely for comfort.

The only thing standing between me and certain death is the pack, but we're definitely not on the same page. I want to lie low, go back to my typical life, and live to fight another day, while their MO is "seek, confront, and destroy."

And depending on the answers we find, the enemy they destroy...might be me.

Performance slow

The performance is slow at the start but improves as the story progresses.

Overall it's an ok story I'm reading this through my kindle unlimited account and bought the audiobook book to listen to while reading. The writing improves as the story progresses (if this is their first book that would explain it) There's a few times it feels as if the writer has used a thesaurus as the word they've used is out of the blue.

If you like stories with were, vampires and magic then give this a try. I'm going to read the second book to see how the story progresses as I usually find the writing improves in second books or I quickly move onto another book.

great story but audio issues

its a great story but has noticeable issues with the recording. there are points where it's easy to tell parts were re-recorded and the audio has some mismatch.
this however does not take away from the good story

Setting the scene !!

After reading this series on Kindle I wanted to give the audiobook a try. I found the narrator nasally, and she speaks quite slowly so I upped the speed to 1.20 and this was much better.

Book 1 in the series is a lot slower than the other books, I feel like this one sets the scene - do not let it put you off. The series just gets better and better.

Brilliant

Absolutely loved it. Just as captivating as the book and the voice of the actress is just perfect for Skylar.

Very negative

The performance is great but the book itself is negative and hostile. Not light listening.
I struggled to finish it because in most books there is a positive to cancel out the negative such as love or something that makes you laugh or at least smile. This book doesn't have either unfortunately. Well written but not bed time listening.

Good Story but Dull Narration

This is a good story but very much held back by the narrator who was bland and slow. If the narrator had put a little pace into the book it would have been much better.
The story follows Skyler Brooks whose mother has just been killed by Vampires and the Midwest pack have taken her under their wing, much against their better judgement. Skyler has kept her wolf caged during the full moons since she was 14. She does want to be a werewolf! As the story progresses we find she has other abilities.
I took more than two weeks to read this book because of the bland narrator. Would I recommend it? Yes but not a first choice .
