Summary

Travel to the remotest reaches of deep space in this wondrous follow-up to the acclaimed Noumenon - a tale of exploration, adventure, science and humanity with the sweep and intelligence of the works of Arthur C. Clarke, Neal Stephenson and Octavia Butler.

Generations ago, Convoy Seven left Earth on a journey to a distant star. Eons later, the convoy has returned to LQ Pyx to begin work on the Web, the alien megastructure that covers the star. Is it a Dyson Sphere, designed to power a civilization as everyone believes - or something far more sinister?

Gets a bit lost mid-way through it

Loved the first book but I found this one hard to follow and, mid-way through, it seemed to get a bit lost. The lack of much character focus - due to the way this story keeps skipping generations - wasn't a huge hurdle in the first book but it is here. And is things progress with a ridiculous number of years passing, it's tough to follow - or care - as much as you should for a book this long and detailed. That said, the performance is great, the writing is superb and, if you can put up with the above, it's worth a try.

Excellent second book!

Another fantastic book! The story played out extremely well, with some unforeseen twists along the way. Excellent performance (yet again!) that completely drew me in. Hoping there's a third book to sate my curiosity in the near future (Pretty Please!).

A long read just to find the answers...

Sadly, I did not really like these two books. There are many very interesting ideas and people, but neither of these come off. The character development is very sketchy and naively done, but some of the cast are likeable. The story lines are also fragmented and jumbled, so I preserved with the second book just to find the answers, which are fun, but over all probably not worth it.
