Summary

Ben Garston has broken the Lore. Now it's time to face the music.

Life isn't treating Ben Garston very well. He's lost everything he once held dear, including the love of his life. Still, he did at least escape being dragged into hell by a malevolent spirit bent on total destruction. So there is that.

Now Ben just wants to drink and forget, and drink some more. But he can't. Not yet. Because someone is stirring up trouble. Someone who wants to unravel the powerful magic that was spun all those centuries ago and watch the realm of mythology come crashing into the modern world.

Only Ben can stop them. The world will burn if he fails - and that's the last thing he needs on his conscience.

good narration, good story a tad overwrought

a cracking world, setting and character setup. colin narrates fantastically really bringing things to life. things are hampered somewhat by the way the author repeats key plot points as if summarising after a commercial break, to drive home things. what makes this frustrating is that these things are then so obvious that the main character not grasping things gets frustrating.

add to that that we arent sure what his own objectives are beyond "stop the thing happening". and it shows how even a little communication could probably solve a few of the problems.

overall a great yarn but let down by some repetition and a main character who seems a little jaded for the sake of plot.

Fantastic

Well preformed and the story was exciting and fast paced I can hardly wait for the next instalment to come out. I would recommend this to anyone who likes urban fantasy.

Enjoyable

Good adventure and well read as ever by Colin Mace. The story was lacking in a few places but it was still good to listen to ...
The bad news is I don’t think the next book has been made into audio :0/
