Publisher's Summary

Reviver is an action-packed supernatural thriller from debut author Seth Patrick that is perfect for all fans of Justin Cronin, Stephen King and Dean Koontz.
Death won't silence them. Revivers. Able to wake the recently dead, and let them bear witness to their own demise. Twelve years after the first reviver came to light, they have become accepted by an uneasy public. The testimony of the dead is permitted in courtrooms across the world. Forensic revival is a routine part of police investigation. In the United States, that responsibility falls to the Forensic Revival Service. Despite his troubled past, Jonah Miller is one of their best. But while reviving the victim of a brutal murder, he encounters a terrifying presence. Something is watching. Waiting.
His superiors tell him it was only in his mind, a product of stress. Jonah is not so certain. Then Daniel Harker, the first journalist to bring revival to public attention, is murdered, and Jonah finds himself getting dragged into the hunt for answers. Working with Harker's daughter Annabel, he's determined to find those responsible and bring them to justice. Soon they uncover long-hidden truths that call into doubt everything Jonah stands for, and reveal a threat that if not stopped in time, will put all of humanity in danger...

What the Critics Say

“A debut supernatural thriller from a startling new talent. A brilliantly original concept” (Peter James, Shortlist)
"From its arresting first sentence through an opening chapter that is so irresistibly and hair-raisingly seductive and into a story bristling with originality and descriptive excellence, this is truly a book to savour . . . An impressive, intelligent and exciting debut." (Lancashire Evening Post)
"A skilfully plotted and compulsively readable supernatural thriller." (Guardian)

Good book shame about the narrator

There are lots of things to like about this book, the premise of bringing people back so they can tell you who murdered them or just so you can say goodbye to the love ones you lose is maybe not a new idea, as anyone who has ever seen the first episode of torchwood will tell you. That said I have read that Seth has stated he came up with the idea first, I say, I really don't care who thought of it first I'm just glad he wrote this take on the idea.
There are a few holes in the plot but its rare nowadays to find a plot without any.
So all in all I'd defanatly say give it a try.
Seth has taken me back to when I loved watching the twilight zone, and made me hungry for some more strange tales.
Now for the bad bit
If you have never heard a Irishman before then you may be able to forgive.
But ari fliakos does to the Irish what dick van dyke did to the cockney accent.
For the most part I thought he was doing a Scottish person pretending to be Irish ( just picture Sean Connery in untouchables)
I was hoping he would be a minor character, but no such luck.
For those of you that read as much you listen to audio books, then maybe this is one to read.
I did get past it by just pretending he lied about where he was from, ( unlike Roy detrice doing daenerys in the a dance with dragons.... Don't get me started on that)
Sorry I digress,
If your looking for something a bit different and are fine with Americans who can't do accents well then download it now
You won't be disappointed.

sort it out

This is a good story although it does rather gloss over the God question but I am fuming over the narration. Who picks the narrators? I really want to know. This story requires a narrator who can do an Irish and British accent so who do they pick? Someone who can not do an accent for toffee! This would not be so bad if the story was a comedy but it is actually a sci fi/horror. Come on audible sort it out. A good narrator is as important as the story in an audible book.
