Publisher's Summary

Ages ago, sorcerers created a new sun to replace their dying one. When a shard of the sun falls to the earth, more than one takes notice. And some have intentions more wicked than others.
A powerful wizard seeks the means to defy death and heal his broken body.
The Necromancer is set on getting the justice that was never given.
Amidst everything, the shard falls into the hands of an unsuspecting woodsman named Broderick. Miracles begin to happen at his touch. The dead are raised and the sick are healed. When his cousin's wife is captured, he sets out to rescue her and bargain the shard for her freedom. But nothing is as it seems and no one can be trusted, least of all the one he travels with.

I want to know more about this world.

Richard Fierce does a good job with this book, the pacing is good and the dialogue is well written and engaging.

The characters are believable and you can understand them. The characters are unique each with their own goals and motivations. Unlike a lot of these stories the main character is nothing special, they are just a normal person and that helps makes them relatable.

This world clearly has a lot of history behind both explained and left unknown, it will be interesting to find out more about this setting as time goes on in the next book. This is a good start of a series, introducing lots of things and its world slowly letting us learn more about it’s secrets. this book feels like how I remember this book in the long run is going to very much depend on what happens in the next one.

Skyler Morgan has a good voice that you can listen to for hours and fits the story. They are at their strongest when they are speaking as the narrator narrating the narrative, descriptions and action. They make everything flow well this really drags you into the story. They are still solid but not quite as good at voicing the characters. It lacks a little spark, that little extra flair that makes a voice fit the character perfectly.

I would give them 5/5 for their story narration and 4/5 for their voicing of the characters.

.Shard of the Sun

Richard Fierce is a complete wiz at weaving stories in and around characters that have amazing depth and motivation.

What starts off pretty slow build till you actually can't stop listening... there's good back story woven in, crafting (a must for anyone who loves this genre) and intense action.

The time totally whizzed past me, and I wanted more. Some parts, I literally was on the edge of my seat. A total joy to the ears, and it made the book go so much quicker. I believe Richard and Skyler nailed this one, and I'm so excited for more.

Now for some deeper thoughts.

As I said the plot itself was slow to get going, I do admit that there were some word choices and lengthy sentences that even made me think twice about the meaning, but it really didn't detract from the story.Skyler Morgan was fantastic and made me care all the more,a perfect pairing of author and narrator

Overall this is great book with potential to become a series. And I do hope it becomes one
I really think/hope the writer has a lot more up his sleeve for these characters and I can't wait for more.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review. As always this is my honest opinion
