Summary
Greymane believed he'd outrun his past. With his school for swordsmanship in Falar, he was looking forward to a quiet life, although his colleague, Kyle, wasn't as enamoured with life outside the mercenary company, the Crimson Guard. However, it seems it is not so easy for an ex-Fist of the Malazan Empire to disappear, especially one under sentence of death from that same Empire.

A wonderful book by a great.
More malazan magic. Another perfectly paced book full of great characters and tying up some ends from previous books as well. Full of action and good humour as well as dark magic and intriguing characters. I think I prefer this series to the main malazan books by Erikson as they are better paced with nowhere near as much filler and philosophy. Telling the tale of some of the more interesting characters from the history of the malazan timeline. Highly recommended..

superb
Slow to begin with but as is went it got better and better. Ĺots of twist and turns to keep you guessing and you end up ĺistening when and where you can just to find out what happens next

Rubbish
None of the magic, charm, humour or humanity of the Erikson books. Nearly DNFd many times but forced myself through it. Not sure if it was the writing or the reading but I remembered enjoying it when I read it on release.
