Dr. Albert Snowden and his niece, Emily, were abducted by the aliens. They are visited by a mysterious being named Evaran in the last minutes of the virtual simulation. He has decided to interfere in this timeline-changing event and rescue them.
Stopping the ship from crashing into the planet before getting to Evaran's ship is one issue. Navigating the apex predators on the loose is another. To make matters worse, Jerzan Graduul, infamous leader of the Bloodbore mercenary pack, has boarded the ship in search of salvage opportunities, and has noticed Evaran's ship. The hunt begins.

An alien ship full of predators. Yes us too!
What made the experience of listening to The Awakening the most enjoyable?
We are the ultimate predator on earth. Let's see how we fare against other predators in a massive enclosed space travelling lab experiment gone wrong. Cool. I loved the premise and the fight scenes. Very enjoyable.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Awakening?
It's a great roller coaster of action and a fun read. Lots of aliens from across the multi-verse, unleashed to run amok in an alien research vessel. Bring it on.
Have you listened to any of Michael Pauley’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No but I really enjoyed the energy and narration as a whole. Really good. Good pace, nice work on the characters.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did. I listened to it on a car journey. Which went much faster, or felt it as I wasn't speeding, thanks to this book!

A quick Listen for Sci-Fi Fans!
A quick listen that was both creative and interesting with all the best sci-fi elements, alien abduction, creatures, spaceships and technology that's out of this world.
Michael Pauley's performance was fantastic. I've listened to several books narrated by Pauley, and believe this is some of his best work. While the narration started off slightly monotone, it quickly picked up and before you know it, Pauley pulled the listener in with his enthusiasm, tones and different alien voices.

Interesting Concept. Great New Series.
I was very unsure of what to expect with this book, but was pleasantly surprised. Although a little shorter than most of the books I usually get, it was still well on par with many of my favorite stories.
A small group of people are awakened to find that they have been abducted by a group of alien scientists. The last 2 years of their lives they have been living in simulated environments created by their minds. The ship, which suffered a major catastrophe, is now dead in space with many of the other specimens running loose on the ship. Some of the other aliens are sentient. Some of them are barely things we would call alive. The only thing for sure is that all of the alien creatures are dangerous... These scientists were on a mission to find the most successful species, with the most dangerous and lethal being at the top of the list.
The small group of humans, along with their advanced and highly-intelligent rescuer, must navigate the ships dangers to save their lives and prevent the ship from falling into the wrong hands.
I would definitely recommend this book to just about anyone who enjoys sci-fi. It was a good story line, had a good narration, and I'm looking forward to continuing the series.
