Simply stunning.

Where does The Citadel of the Autarch rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This series is probably one of my favourite in all of fantasy /speculative fiction. I encountered it years ago, and have never understood why it is not as well known as the Lord of the Rings or Dune - both of whom pale in comparison. The adventures of Severian, who starts as an apprentice torturer, and ends as the ruler of most of earth, across an impossibly ancient earth are absorbing and rich - but written in such a poetic and beautiful style. I was worried that the audiobook would not live up to my own experiences, but in fact it has greatly enhanced it - it is simply perfect.
