Summary

"Anything you do in the past changes the future. The tiniest little actions have huge consequences. You might tread on an ant now and it might entirely prevent someone from being born in the future." There's nothing like the issue of evolution to get under the skin of academics. Especially when those same academics are by chance or bad judgement deposited at a critical evolutionary turning point when one wrong move could have catastrophic results for the future.
Unfortunately, in the hands of such an inept and cussed group of individuals, the sensitive issue of causality is, sadly, only likely to receive the same scant respect that they show to one another.

"Delightful...glassful and downright mischevious. The pleasures on the page are so quirkily seductive." ( Sunday Telegraph)

No Worries...

As a huge fan of the whole 'Discworld' Series and the multifarious characters within, the Wizards are perhaps my favorite and The last Continent is packed with shenanigans from our friends at U. U. Like all Pratchett's work it is multi-referencial and in this case the last Continent refers to Australia, no worries. So we get everything from Mad Max, Crocodile Dundee to Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

Although I also love the unabridged versions admirably read by Nigel Planer, for me Tony Robinson's amazing variety of voices adds an extra dimension to the characters. In this case his quite hilarious Ozzy accent!

The plot, as alway, keeps you chuckling all the way through.... The Librarian is sick - 'ook' - and the Wizards are worried but can do no magic as no one can remember his name...

... The Arch Chancellor and the gang get stuck on mono island which they found through the window of the missing 'Egregious Professor of Cruel and Unusual Geography'. Where strange things are going on and eventually they meet the God of Evolution who is running amuck with creation.

And Rincewind, possibly the last person to know the librarians name is presently stuck in a strange land far far away called Four X.

Going through the out-back Rincewind travels through the town of 'Bugger-Up' to get to the one horse town of ' Did-ya-bring-a beer-along' meets a man with a Boomerang, 'one of the big heavy sort, that didn't come back because they were stuck in somethings rib-cage'! Gets pissed on by a small grey incontinent teddy bear in a tree, is arrested for sheep stealing, haunted by Skippy the Kangaroo and falls into a lot of water holes...

Another masterpiece in the series and a must listen-to for any fan. Nullus Anxietus

volume diverse

Performer varies his volume far too much. Otherwise it would have been fine to listen too
