Summary

De Lint's first adult fantasy novel in eight years weaves a rich tapestry of story with classic CdL elegance.

Young Thomas Corn Eyes sees into the otherworld, but all he wants to do is get off the rez. Steve Cole escaped from his rock star life to disappear into the desert and mountains. Fifteen-year-old barrio kid Sadie Higgins has been discarded once too often. Blogger Leah Hardin needs to leave Newford, come to terms with the loss of her best friend, and actually engage with her life. When these lives collide in the Hierro Maderas Mountains, they must struggle to escape their messy pasts and find a way to carve a future for themselves. They don't just have to learn how to survive. They have to learn how to fly.

Charles de Lint scores a home run.

since reading monetary, Charles de lint has kept me enthralled. nothing is safe from myth or magic. He weaves the commonplace into a complex tale that draws you in to art, music, Indian myths, dog boys, crow men and reawakens your sense of mystery. the painted lands are calling you to enter. Will you accept? I did. delighted to make new friends and catch up with old ones. A beautiful read. Shane, Clonmel, Tipperary.

Heart and Soul

It is with a sense of longing and a little emptiness that I finish this wonderful read. I genuinely looked forward to listening to it as I walked the dogs.... Narrated by a Native American, this is a story of acceptance and redemption told in the wide open wild spaces of America, with a cast of Spirits, humans, tricksters, gods and animals.... As with all De Lint's work.... It is both prosaic and present all at the same time.... With a big message, told softly as If round the fire.... And only for those with the heart to listen.....
Stay Strong, Dream True and Walk Tall...... Indeed.

Heartwarming contemporary fantasy

This has been one of those rare stories that will probably stay with me for days and that I'll come back to again and again. It may sound corny but it not only touched my heart but also my spirit. Thank you Charles De Lindt. I'm off to check out more of your wr
