Publisher's Summary

Some loves transcend time. Some loves were never meant to be. Some loves are cut short by the evil of others. When Sheriff James Tolbert and his fiance were killed by a malicious rancher and his cutthroat minions, nobody could expect that the very passion that fueled their love would be the same passion that fueled ghostly revenge. When grave robbers unearth Sheriff Tolbert's tomb searching for Old West relics, a vengeful spirit is unleashed on a small Texas town hellbent on revenge. If those responsible couldn't be made to pay, then their progeny would, and they would pay in the most bloody and horrific manner the spirit could dream of. Can modern day law enforcement stop a spirit destined to fulfill an oath made in death? Even when aided by a Texas Ranger and UCLA Paranormal Investigators, how can they stop something that is already dead and buried?

Brilliant vengeful ghost story

Where does Whispers rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I loved it. It was definitely a 5 star listen for me.

What other book might you compare Whispers to, and why?

That's a difficult one, because the combination of small town police investigation and vengeful ghost story made it quite unique. I can't really think of anything I've read that was all that similar.

Have you listened to any of Aaron Shook’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I've never heard Aaron Shook narrating a book before. I thought he was great. He really brought all the characters to life - male and female. I LOVED the way he voiced Roger and Casper, the laugh-out-loud grave robbers.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was quite intense and there were a lot of twists and turns, so it was nice to have breaks to allow the latest revelations to sink in. Even so, I listened to it very quickly for me.

Any additional comments?

I came to this book having read and listened to Heath Stallcup's Monster Squad series. I thought it was equally good, with his usual strong characterisation and suspense. It's probably not one for the squeamish as there is quite a lot of gory violence in there.

It's actually fantastic.

It weaves the different characters and viewpoints together in a thrilling manner. All of the characters come to life in the refreshing, lively voice of the narrator.
It's one of those complex books I'll enjoy listening to more than once.
