Summary

Salem will be forever linked to that dark period when 20 people were put to death during the Witchcraft Trials of 1692. Nothing stirs the heart more than pacts with the Devil, magic spells, enchantments, and the supernatural. Today, Salem attracts curious tourists and people who are interested in modern witches, who practice a nature-based religion known as Wicca. Two Wiccan high priests give their accounts of the Witchcraft Hysteria of 1692 and what it means to New Age seekers today.

The first part of the tour highlights buildings that are on the grounds of the Peabody Essex Museum. Through the museum's foresight, some of Salem's oldest and grandest architecture is being preserved. The last part of the tour takes you to the Salem Maritime Historical Site, which has preserved a number of waterfront buildings, including the Narbonne House, and which oversaw the building of the 1797 replica Friendship merchant vessel.
