Summary

From NY Times and USA Today best-selling author, Jana DeLeon, the third book in the Ghost-in-Law mystery/romance series.

Family can be the death of you…

Who killed Helena Henry? The shorter list may be who didn’t want her dead. Psychic Raissa Bordeaux thought she’d left her former life behind, hidden away in her eclectic shop in the French Quarter. But when a child is kidnapped and Helena Henry appears, Raissa risks her true identity by offering the police help with the case. New Orleans Detective Zach Blanchard doesn’t believe in psychic hooey and is certain Raissa didn’t get her facts about the case from a crystal ball. He suspects her of something besides being the most intriguing and attractive woman he’s ever come across. But when Raissa’s secrets put her in danger, can Zach convince her to trust him with the truth before it’s too late?

Hilarious read

What made the experience of listening to Showdown in Mudbug the most enjoyable?

The whole book was enjoyable. I have recently discovered this series and am now making my way through them all. The characters are funny and interesting.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Showdown in Mudbug?

The incident with the hot dogs was very funny and I found myself laughing out loud which is not good if you are listening on your iPod in a public space.

Which character – as performed by Johanna Parker – was your favourite?

Oh definitely Helena

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh in so many places but it also has its sad moments too

Any additional comments?

you can judge my satisfaction with this book and indeed the whole series by the fact that I have bought the first four books in this series and will buy the rest in the very near future

Great story, though could do without the body sham

Really like these books but the body shaming makes them a harder listen than they should be. Also never really got by Helena is so bad. She seems pretty nice tbh and has saved their lives many times Still enjoy the books but would like to understand more about what she did when alive that was so awful. Right now it makes me feel so bad for her when they're horrible to her for no obvious reason.

A showdown ending

I enjoyed this book. This series focuses around who killed Helena Henry, so it is a long running mystery, you can read them out of order but it does help with the continuity and flow if you read the as they were written. Each book centres around one of Helena's friends, as her life is in danger and she ultimately finds love. Although not as funny as her Fortune series the author does have fun with the havoc a ghost can cause. In this book the story is about Raissa and her mysterious past. We have met Raissa in previous books and she certainly turned out to be a lot different to how she was portrayed in them, it was fun learning more about her and if course the rest of the wonderful characters are there to lend a hand. Her case gets wrapped up nicely. The teaser at the end of the book gives you an idea of what to expect in the next book and I am off to jump right in.
When a young girl goes missing Psychic Raissa Bordeaux can't ignore it. The case is to similar to the disappearances that sent her into hiding, so she goes to the police. The police don't believe her and didn't want her help but when someone tries to shove her under a bus and she can see the ghost of Helena Henry, she knows she is right. She just has to stay alive long enough to prove it. With the help from her friends, Raissa hides out in mudbug as she is hunted by the police and the mob but if she can find the girl it will all be worth it.
I liked the narrator. Each character sounds very different from the last, making them easy to tell apart and Helena's just makes me chuckle but then again that could just be because she is causing trouble.

Showdown in Mudbug

This story follows on from "Mischief in Mudbug" as Helena tried to help find who murdered her. This funny story continues along this time a young girl is kidnapped and they all try and help to find out why? Read brilliantly again by Johanna Parker.

Okay but not for me

I loved the books and purchased the Audible versions expecting to enjoy these more. Unfortunately, I found them a bit annoying.
