Summary

The gripping new Second World War novel from Sunday Times top-ten best-selling author of All My Tomorrows.

May 1942: Kitty Pargeter loves the life she’s leading as a talented young pilot, serving her country.

But tragedy strikes when she is forced to crash-land and is badly injured.

She is taken to a specialist hospital in Cliffehaven, where she must come to terms with the disabling injury that threatens her career. Then comes the shattering news that her beloved brother has been shot down and presumed dead. And she wonders if she’ll be able to find the courage and fortitude to carry on.

As Kitty slowly recovers - with the help of Peggy Reilly and her family at Beach View boarding house - she is more determined than ever to return to the job she loves, whatever it takes.

EXCRUCIATING LISTENING !

Please remind me NEVER to buy another book narrated by Julie Maisey ! Her narration is appalling - its like she is telling a story to children in an infant school instead of adults. I have tried to listen to the book so many times, but its driving me insane.
Shame really, as I would have liked to know how the book ended at least!
This lady is never to be listened to again.!

Fantastic book.

What a beautiful book. The story was brilliant and Julie the narrator is amazing. I couldn't stop listening to this book. Although obviously there is terrible sadness, it is laden with so much beauty and love. It fascinates me that people had so little, and yet not only survived but created happy situations and made the most of things. I thoroughly recommend this book. I am sure you will love it.
