Summary
And Torak's quest is far from over. A strange, creeping sickness, silent and deadly, is threatening the Ravens, whose leader Finn Kedinn has told Torak something of his history. Word arrives that the Seal Clan have the cure and Torak must face a lonely journey across treacherous terrain alive with menace and danger to find it. He must search for the rare herb which is part of the cure and find it by Midsummer. On the Seal's Island he stumbles into a world utterly unlike his own. And here Torak is welcomed by the kindly Seal Mage, Teneris, and kinsman, Bale. But all is not as it seems, Torak must keep his wits about him to judge who might be friend or foe, to face the dark art of the Soul Eaters, who haunt him even in his dreams, and to master his fears.

Better than the first book
Now I enjoyed the first book in this series, it was well written, well read and engaging. It did however feel a bit predictable, something that this book makes up for. It keeps the revelations coming right up to the end and while the plot progression is slower I think the story benefits from this, especially as you see relationships forming and breaking.
If you liked the first book I'd definately give this one a read.

Spirit Walker
This is the second book in the series. In this story, Torak comes into contact with the first of the Soul Eaters, an evil group of rennagades thirsty for power and domination over all and whom it is Torak's destiny to destroy. We're also introduced to Bale, a relation of Torak's and a key figure in the series. Michelle Paver moves away from her forest setting of Wolf Brother and explores the world of the sea clans. She does so with her usual skill for description. This is a more than worthy sequel to Wolf Brother.

Addictive!
It’s been a long time since I would listen ever spare moment I have to an audio book. The story is really well written and the characters are amazing. I’ve only just discovered these series and going through them quickly! I’m now on my way to listen to the next book!

Fabulous, adventurous and a delight
I am loving following the story of Torak, exploring more clans and getting deeper into Paver’s fantastic world. Such a brilliant book. My teenage children love them, so I’m now reading them and they are such a joy.

Still a firm favourite
Read these books when they first came out years ago and if anything the narration just makes them even better. This has been my favourite audible book yet.

Imagine a time long ago…
… some of which is narrated through a wolf’s perspective. Very gripping adventure to follow the first book, Wolf Brother.
