Summary

It begins with just a few people falling ill. Another flu virus that spreads around the globe. And then the reports begin that people are dying....

When most of the world's population is wiped out, a handful of survivors are left to pick up the pieces. Cities become graveyards. Technology becomes largely obsolete. Mankind must start again.

1: 'Dark Rain' by Ken Bentley. Introducing Tim Treloar as Russell, and Bernard Holley as Ridley. Months after the plague, storms batter the country. As Abby resumes the search for her son, Jackie and Daniel fight for their lives.

2: 'Mother's Courage by Louise Jameson. Introducing Fiona Sheehan as Molly. The search for Peter leads to Aberystwyth and a community of women who have cut themselves off from the outside world. But what appears to be a safe haven could be nothing of the sort.

3: 'The Hunted' by Ken Bentley. Introducing Tim Bentinck as Irvin Warner. Greg, Daniel and Russell need the help of survivalist Irvin Warner, who is hiding out in the Brecon Beacons. But predators are roaming in the barren countryside, too....

4: 'Savages' by Matt Fitton. Wounded, split apart and fighting for their lives, the survivors discover that survival isn't everything.

Note: Survivors contains adult material and is not suitable for younger listeners.

Directed by Ken Bentley.

Felt cheated

Story itself was good, but the last 8 or9 chapters were about how the writers came to write the storyline the same was on survivors series1

Returning because of violence

I enjoyed the first series and was looking forward to this one. The first series had some hard parts in it, but in this one I only got about 45 minutes into it. Someone is tortured to get information out of them. That is when I stopped and will be returning the book. A shame. My star ratings are in the middle because it is difficult for me to comment. The acting was good to the point I got to, and the synopsis promises a good story. But I can't cope with torture, even if it is only for 2 minutes of the book, there may be more and I don't want to risk it.

A great listen.

Totally enjoyed this, along with series one.
I was a fan of the original TV series, and it's fabulous to hear some original cast members, along with the wonderful Louise Jameson.
More please!

Highly recommended

Another great, very dark and intense quartet of episodes from Big Finish. Well worth listening to for all fans of the original series.

Not as many chapters as advertise

I've really enjoyed this adaptation of Survivors,
Pity the last 10 chapters or so are just the writers and cast talking about the show

More Story

over 4 chapters devoted to how the actors feel. Why???? The story line was good. Stick with that.

Perfect continuation.

As always a brilliant production from Big Finish. Everything is as hard-hitting and bleak as the original and with just as much heart. The cast is superb. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Stuck in the 1970s

First off, this is padded out with an hour of chitchat about the production at the end - so be aware that you're getting 3 and half hours of drama, not 4 and half. The same applies to series 1, and I suspect anything that follows, though I won't be wasting any more credits. (I didn't listen to the padding, tbh.)

I loved the 1970s TV series when I was a kid. This audiodrama is also set in the 70s, but it feels like it was actually made then too: the vacuous dialogue, the weird music, the rampant sexism and misogyny (most of the women are wimps), and the classism (most of the heroes sound posh, and most of the villains have regional accents). The storylines lurch from one peril to the next as you wearily wonder why the characters don't just stay put at The Blessed Grange instead of putting themselves through 3 and half hours of misery. Oh and it ends on another unresolved teaser to encourage you onto the next series.

Nothing new, interesting or progressive has been explored here. It seems like a wasted opportunity. Generally unsatisfying.

Good storyline but muddly jumping between scenes.

A good and believable storyline, really well performed, but I kept getting confused about where we were, who was with whom, were the two groups still separate or back together...
Sound not brilliant, but not as bad as 01.
Discussion afterwards is a mutual-appreciation-society with the actors telling each other how utterly wonderful they were...rather nauseating. Leave that to the listener to decide!
Good to have Jenny, Abby and Greg with the original characters - makes it more realistic.
