2nd in the series
The second audiobook in the Terra Mates series is very different to the first. The initial book was an enjoyable summer read, where as this one is an interplanetary human trafficking story and its connection to the Terra Mates Program is tenuous at best. The narration is good, she fits the characters well and her male voices are very believable. It is well written but this storyline did not appeal to me. Kidnapped from Earth, drugged and sold to the highest alien bidder, Lyzette seems not too concerned at being objectified, groped and sold into sex slavery. Her main concern is not what has happened to her or how she can escape, but rather the potential loss of "her jewel." Even though Mikael, who purchased Lyzette as his next concubine, does not sexually abuse her, every other male she encounters seems to. Mikael himself is no saint, even though he is not an outright molester, he still has a group of women who he has bought for the purpose of sex, most of whom were originally kidnap victims too. He used them each as concubines until he tired of them, then he just went out and bought another girl and his prior sex slaves were used as house staff. All these women seem to have Stockholm Syndrome, as they still just want to please Mikael and spend a lot of time preparing and training Lyzette to please him. Not one of them appeared to suffer any psychological or emotional problems after being abducted, abused and sold for sex! I know the ex-concubines say they were helping Lyzette in order to make Mikael fall in love with her and then free them, but after living as a slave on that world for years, you would think they would have know that by law a slave could only be released when their master is dead. This audiobook was not one for me, as abuse and nonconsensual sexual situations are not romantic, even if there is a HEA at the end. I received the audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion.

I actually liked this book. This isnt the first alien romance I've listen to. This was an interesting story I'm glad the girl in this story got married to the guy because I knew he actually liked her. I know it's weird with the situations with the Aliens and Humans but the stories always catch my attention I'm the end. Good book.
