Summary

Archaeologist Neil Watson did not expect to find the body of American veteran Norman Openheim in the ruins of the old chantry chapel. He turns to his old student friend, Detective Sergeant Wesley Peterson, for help. Ironically, both men are looking at an invading force - Wes the WWII Yanks and Neil a group of Spaniards killed by outraged locals as they limped from the wreckage of the Armada. 400 years apart, two strangers in a strange land have died violently - could the same motives of hatred, jealousy and revenge be at work? Wes is running out of time to find out....

one of my favourite series

I love Kate Ellis's Wesley Peterson series. The mixture of modern and history is very well done. Another great storyline that really kept me guessing. Highly recommended.

I have a added interest in coming from the area where the books are set so I try and guess the place the places in the book on based on

Glad I am new to this series - as I know I have more books ready and waiting!

I am a new reader to these stories, recommended by a friend. I am really enjoying this quaint, slightly old fashioned world with Wesley and am looking forward to reading the rest of his adventures. It’s an easy read, I guess some of the whodunnit elements, but not all, and I love the gentle pacing as a refreshing change to my usual full on days. Highly recommended to any lovers of Father Brown and the like.

ANOTHER GREAT READ

Actually…listened via Audible to the second in this series .
Again the story has present and past intertwined to great effect .
Love listening to the voice of Gordon Griffin as those times collide in murder .
The character are ones I want to keep following too .
Will definitely be following this series .

A story badly told

I was very disappointed with the narration of this book. The Liverpudlian accent was more Welsh. Furthermore the narration made Wesley completely boring and bland
