A beautiful story of lifelong friendship and love

My 9-year old daughter and I loved this story. Learning about life in Africa, the wild animals that live there and the beautiful friendship that builds between Bertie and a white lion cub. When Bertie has to leave to go to England, they have to part ways, only to find each other again many years later, when Bertie is wounded in the war. Their enduring love and friendship continue until they are both old and grey and to this present day, when the lion lives on in memory as a chalky butterfly lion. We would highly recommend this story to any young readers and listeners.

Boring Book

Th butterfly lion is one of the most strange and confusing stories that I have ever read. The narrator was all slurred and I couldn’t understand what he was saying.

Awful narration

Terribly narrated in most unengaging way with little emphasis or expression which makes listening to the stories tedious. The stories themselves are ok but and good because suitable for both my 4 and 8 year old but they're really let down by the narration. Maybe good for getting kids to fall asleep!

Must read

I read this over 15 years ago- I had forgotten some of the plot - moving, sentimental in the most brilliant way, super storytelling, audio perfect for the characters. So glad I went down memory lane for this. Probably for older children but I enjoyed it so much.
