Summary

Detective Harry Bosch was sure he'd shot the serial killer responsible for a string of murders in LA...but now, a new crime makes him question his convictions.

The Dollmaker was the name of the serial killer who had stalked Los Angeles ruthlessly, leaving grisly calling cards on the faces of his female victims. Now with a single faultless shot, Detective Harry Bosch thinks he has ended the city's nightmare.

But the dead man's widow is suing Harry and the LAPD for killing the wrong man - an accusation that rings terrifyingly true when a new victim is discovered with the Dollmaker's macabre signature.

So for the second time, Harry must hunt down a death-dealer who is very much alive, before he strikes again. It's a blood-tracked quest that will take Harry from the hard edges of the L.A. night to the last place he ever wanted to go - the darkness of his own heart.

With The Concrete Blonde, Edgar Award-winning author Michael Connelly has hit a whole new level in his career, creating a breathtaking thriller that thrusts you into a blistering courtroom battle - and a desperate search for a sadistic killer.

Impressed? Ace detective Harry Bosch is also on the case in other exciting Michael Connelly crime-fiction novels.

Bosch Botched

Harry makes so many mistakes I'm surprised he gets any Crims in the pokey. This dragged a bit through the court case but just about redeemed itself with the on going back story.

This series is simply absorbing

Bosch is a fine investment of time into a character whom
embodies the values we had ,not which that are so polluted today.

Another Brilliant Bosch

A great story - I was sure I guessed the culprit, and was even a bit disappointed because I ‘sussed it’ and the swerves kept coming.
Good characters and well read.

Decent police procedural/court room drama combo

This 1990's crime novel is thankfully unburdened, unlike newer police procedurals, with new technology. It is, therefore, a more "old school" type investigation into the crime/s with the twists more believable. Like most of Michael Connelly's books, it is a decently written and well performed page turner with a beginning, middle and end. Combining the police investigation with a the court room drama adds an extra dimension to the story. It is unclear to me, however, why it seems necessary nowadays for crime novels to include the personal and sex life of the key character as it doesn't add anything but some padding to the story. Come back Philip Marlowe... Still, it is a good holiday read.

Kept my interest.

Just love the character of this guy. This time I feel the story petered out towards the end after building up very nicely.

Entertaining Enough

My addiction with Harry Bosh has no end!! However, my only foley here was; I can’t stand the narrator … the constant saliva smaking noises was so disgusting. Considering how much I love “Concrete Blonde” I’ve decided not to bother reading any of the books with this narrator’s performance. I went straight to (Angel’s Flight) & the new narrator was extremely improved… (hip hip hooray) any type of smaking sound just make me nauseous (might just be me &’my quirks) the story is superb, mind you … the narrator not so much.
Grinning 😄

Another crime busting story, where Harry Bosch saves the day, only after being close to death. he's such an interesting character, a true rouge.
