Summary

Well researched
The love story is a bit frustrating, though I understand why the heroine was reluctant. The parts on scientific study took me back to my school days — v interesting

Celebrating the unacknowledged Women of Science
A very enjoyable romance, highlighting the plight of women struggling for acceptance in a man's world of Science. Thank goodness things have changed for the better in the modern world! Rosalyn Landor is outstanding as narrator and adds a whole new dimension to the reading experience. I will definitely be listening to more by this author and narrator.

Social Justice Romance. Love it!
When this started, I wasn't sure how much I could love our prickly brainiac leading lady. Turns out, quite a lot! I absolutely love the way Courtney Milan unfolds this character as the story progresses. Violet does not do anything you expect. Absolutely nothing! It's refreshing to read a leading lady who is ridiculously intelligent, wildly brave, and so loving (that bit is hidden deep beneath the surface). You get to know the Countess the way you would if you met her - encountering her polite face for strangers and then as you got to know her better, seeing a bit more and more of her real personality. Sebastian is beyond lovable in this. He knows his woman well and knows when to push and when to pull back. The 'dance' between them was fascinating and enjoyable. And be sure to listen to the explanation of the dedication at the end. That just made me love this book even more. A definite must read if you like your heroines to have a brain, and your plot to be a real story instead of a series of contrived misunderstandings. On to the next in series! Totally loving it!

Best book of the series so far
I love this series, but this is my favourite to date. The scientific and historical background covered in the narrative is brilliant.

The first half was good.
At first, I liked the surprising characters unfolding. Unlike the previous novels, people did not behave like 21st century people. After 50% it became very repetitive. How often can you let a character think she is useless and selfish l, in exactly the same words, about exactly the same plot development, without actually developing the plot? Add to that the male character struggling with being taken serious, and both of them having fantasies about sex without taking action.
Apart from boredom making me trow in the towel at 70%, I am annoyed by the science. We live in the internet age. Readers can easily find out which scientist came up with what idea in what century. An author just taking great finds and subscribe them to fictional names in the wrong century, is just lazy.
