truly dreadful - reads like a schoolboy essay & what is with the Narrator..??!
My audible library these days approaches around a gazillion books & Dead Beat ranks all the way down, s’in the bundle of rejects.
Ive hauled myself through but dialogue in chapter 24 (or thereabouts) between Rose & Martha means I need stop; quite literally the worst Ive ever ‘read’ between characters.
The Narrator. Oh lord the Narrator. I cant bear any more that faux/sub Scarlett O’Hara - to be heard to be believed.
I always want to love Scots writers but s’going to be a v long time after this high school essay (Im a teacher) before I could try another Doug Johnstone.
He has good reviews so there must be something redeeming .. ‘sure aint in this book.
