Summary
A decomposed body washes up on a beach near Glasgow. The victim, Tracy Eadie. Junkie. Prostitute. Fourteen years old.
Rosie Gilmour, tabloid journalist and crusader for justice, receives evidence linking police officials with Tracy's disappearance. Digging deeper, Rosie uncovers a sickening network of corruption and abuse, leading back to the very top of the establishment. And to powerful figures who want their secrets kept hidden.
Rosie has found the story of a lifetime. Yet living to tell it will be her greatest challenge.

Glasgow's underbelly exposed
What made the experience of listening to The Dead Won't Sleep the most enjoyable?
Excellent narration, great accent, strong plot
Who was your favorite character and why?
Rosie, flawed but plausible.
Have you listened to any of Sarah Barron’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No, but on the basis of this, I'd listen again.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The final pages were a cliffhanger...
Any additional comments?
This story packs a powerful punch with a very strong plot involving prostitutes, junkies, murder, police corruption, a paedophile ring at the home of a Judge, gutter press journalism and the Glasgow underworld. Despite the scope, the plotting is both taught and credible throughout and it's rich in character.
The opening pages set the scene well with a death and disposal of the corpse overboard at sea. The first shock is the revelation as to who's involved. The story follows a headstrong investigative reporter, Rosie. Keen to expose corruption and totally involved in her journalist lifestyle, she's a likeable and well rounded character. She carries a personal burden and along the way, the nature of her difficult past are revealed through a liaison with another troubled individual. All the core central characters have a real feel to them. In particular, the dialogue really hits the spot. The language used changes according to character, so whether it's a child, DCI or Editor, it sounds exactly right.
Great plot, strong characters and fast paced from start to finish. I was totally drawn in to an exciting exposé of dirty dealing in Glasgow's underbelly and the machinations of the press. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is a very interesting book. Wasn't sure initially, just needed something to listen to on the train journey to London... well, this is the best book I have ever listened to. Very well narrated, fast moving, couldn't put it down. Try it if you like a bit of real life crime story. Don't be put off by only two reviews...

Outstanding narration
I really enjoyed this, the first in the Rosie Gilmour series and found it a very compelling listen. Although it is not really a 'whodunnit' , the plot drew me in and I found the character of Rosie extremely likeable. However, the narrator is really the star of this audiobook. Her voice really draws you into the story and she differentiates between all the different characters superbly. I'll definitely be listening to more in this series.

A gripping listen i just couldn't switch it off!
Thoroughly enjoyed this book and will definitely be listening to her other books. The narrating was superb and took you right in to the story. I was gripped from listening to the sample and had to find out what happened. I love the character of Rosie and the other characters in the book. The narrators voice fitted the story perfectly.

Enjoyable listen
Narrator good, a little under stated for the action in progress. Accents for the various characters excellent. Intriguing story, though somewhat disappointing conclusion for me, can't explain it would give away too much!
