Summary

Father Damien Karras: 'Where is Regan?' Regan MacNeil: 'In here. With us.'

The terror begins unobtrusively. Noises in the attic. In the child's room, an odd smell, the displacement of furniture, an icy chill. At first, easy explanations are offered. Then frightening changes begin to appear in eleven-year-old Regan. Medical tests fail to shed any light on her symptoms, but it is as if a different personality has invaded her body.

Father Damien Karras, a Jesuit priest, is called in. Is it possible that a demonic presence has possessed the child? Exorcism seems to be the only answer...

First published in 1971, The Exorcist became a literary phenomenon and inspired one of the most shocking films ever made. Freshly polished and expanded by the author, including new dialogue, a new character and a chilling new extended scene, this unique fortieth anniversary edition provides an unforgettable reading experience that has lost none of its power to shock - and is poised to terrify a new generation of readers.

Emotional

This is not horror in my book. Just sheer emotional drama. heart wrenching for a parent but extremely satisfying.

Horror at its best

Wow best horror story ever written. The book was fantastic, the movie horrifying, but the Audio was better then both especially as it was narrated by William Peter Blatty himself. Terrifying, creepy, and horrifying throughout the words of the demon were quite frankly terrifying. Loved the characters of both priests and the detective.

A Frightening Book

Never thought a book could be scary. A brilliant piece of work with a perfect reading presentation by the author himself. Truly outstanding.

Still scary!

The exorcist is one of the scariest movies of all time and if you've never read the book. It's like a crazy directors cut of the movie with tons more character development.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone looking for a good scary listen with a lot of depth.

Phenomenal

I have to say I wasn't really looking forward to branching out and reading other authors after 30 or so straight books by King but wow, this was fantastic. All of the characters felt genuine, the narrator (the author himself) was utterly fantastic! Would not recommend listening to on a night shift however, unsettled me like nothing else ever has.

Amazing film - Amazing Book

I can’t really find a fault with this! The narration is amazing! It’s genuinely creepy at times and can defo send a shiver down the spine.
I’m a big fan of the film and I loved the book. I purposely saved this book for October for spooky reasons and It was perfect.

Stellar performance of one of the best books ever.

Timeless classic stunningly performed by the writer. Blatty has outdone himself. Must listen for anyone interested in horror, faith or audio production.
