Summary

When their village is attacked by trollocs, monsters thought to be only legends, three young men, Rand, Matt, and Perrin, flee in the company of the Lady Moiraine, a sinister visitor of unsuspected powers. Acceptable not classic delivery

While Jordan was American I am disappointed they used people with such heavy accents. It is okay but I would say when compared to Fry reading Harry Potter you will be hugely disappointed.

Just amazing 10/10

I could imagine everything so vividly. Michael Kramer is an amazing narrator although I would bump up the reading speed to at least 1.30x.
The world in this book is so well built, right down to the finest detail. The characters develop at a pace that is enough to keep you interested, but not so much that there's no room left for growth or that it's unbelievable. The story itself is reminiscent of "The Lord of the Rings" at parts (mostly in the beginning), but completely different and original. There is so much about this book I would love to pass on to whomever is reading this, but I can't do it justice. There aren't many books I would class as "unputdownable", or more appropriately "unpauseable", but this is definitely one of them. I'm heading straight on to book two now!

A true masterpiece in storytelling.

No one does The Wheel of Time more justice than Michael Kramer and Kate Redding.

Love it

The story is interesting with different view on magic, which I enjoy. Well written and easy to follow, I do recommend it :)

This cannot be bettered.

Started the Wheel of time around 2005 and finished it 1 year ago. I have now decided to listen to the whole series on audio. Why? Because this immense fantasy work is simply the best. I've read all the top works, Stephen Donaldson, Tolkien, Raymond Feist, Tad Williams, Stephen King etc, but although very good, they just don't compare to the Wheel of time. Brilliant. The audio versions are sublime. Start it now, life is short!

Brilliant

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Would absolutely recommend this to a friend as it was recommended to me and I love it. Brilliant story intresting concept of time.

What about Kate Reading and Michael Kramer ’s performance did you like?

The narrators brilliantly manages to dramatise the reading and helps to draw you into a complex story revolving around 6 central characters, 3 Young men and 3 young women.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

More 3 star than 5

I don't know if I'm the only one with this problem but trying to give a star rating using the iPad is a nightmare.  Maybe that's why there are soo many 5 star reviews. I think I'll use the computer in future.

I've just finished the Game of Thrones series and loved it so I was tempted by another massive series.  This is definitely more LOTR than GoT, but that's no bad thing.  Best of all my 11 year old daughter can also listen to it.  Not sure I'll get through all 13 / 14 volumes,  but maybe she will.

Read this years ago - just as good now

I read this book 10 years ago and really enjoyed the different perspective the audio book experience brought.

Initially I wasn’t sold on the narration but after giving it an hour or so I really got into the swing of it and felt Michael and Kate did a great job of differentiating the characters (with some stand out characters - Padan Fain, Lan, Morraine and Loial to name a few.

Excellent book, shaky narration

The Wheel of Time series is one of my favourites in the fantasy genre. The Eye of the World is an excellent book, well worth purchasing if you're interested in high fantasy. Although Robert Jordan's writing is perhaps not as technically skilled as Tolkien or Goodkind, he creates a vibrant world with as enthralling and dynamic a story as anything else I've read.

I found the narration to be a little lacking in this audiobook. Perhaps my expectations were too high but the narrator's style almost put me off. From the beginning I felt he placed too much over-the-top dramatic emphasis into mundane descriptive sentences and dulled some of the more significant writing as a result. That said, I got used to it, have thoroughly enjoyed the book and will certainly be continuing through the rest of the Wheel of Time series.
