Summary

The Dark has nearly consumed the planet. Men and beasts have been stripped of their minds, their bodies twisted to serve the Master's will. Her army now numbers in the trillions and is led by two supreme generals. Even the mages have no power to stop her. Driving the survivors to a last bastion of freedom, she calls for the decimated army to surrender.

But mankind stands defiant.

From the ashes of nations the people have united, and together they brace for the impending storm. Bereft of retreat or refuge, they hold to a single hope - that the Oracle can destroy the Dark before everyone is slaughtered. Facing the end, the Oracle must rise to her birthright and find that which can cleanse the Earth of darkness.

inspiring beyond the tribute to Hogwarts

there's plenty of references to H. P. yet the differences are telling. all in all, a story packed with action, surprises and values

Loved this series

Which character – as performed by Derek Perkins – was your favourite?

Derek Perkins if rapidly becoming one of my favourite narrators, although and I'm sorry Derek :) just behind Michael Kramer who for me is the king of narration.

Any additional comments?

Whilst I stand by what I wrote concerning books 1-3, which I did enjoy I should add. I have to say that books 4 and 5 I just couldn't stop listening to. It took me 3 days to listen to both of these books, with book 5 being 1 day. I love the way the author is able to build the tension in his battles scenes. Fab last two books, and overall highly recommend them all.

great story read by a very talented reader

great characters with an involving story. read by very talented reader.
I've marked it down a star because 5 books is to many. it should of only been 3 longer books.

Pretty good

But… what happened to the eternal thief?

I really enjoyed the story and hope my question will be resolved in the future.

There are still so many hanging threads from previous elements of the overall story.

Action packed magical epic-ness

For lack of a better title, action packed, magical epic-ness doesn't even come close to the emotional, magical and vivacity this saga bombards your mind with creating a world so easily brought to life with the words of Hale. With each scene brought to life by Perkins talent of accents and tones. From one scene flawlessly linking to the next and without fail every scene sucks you in for the emotional rollercoaster along with each character combined with the colossal amount of action throughout keeps you yearning to turn every page.

Suitable for young teenagers and above, this saga will attract even adults with a love for adventurous tales. Set on present Earth, the magical world, I dare say, is more believable then Rowling's universe.

Highly recommended. Brace yourselves!

Note to parents: The adult themes extend to Kissing at most in a sexual nature. The most extensive of mature themes world be some descriptions of body wounds. Death of loved characters and mass murder. (on par with Harry Potter mixed with a more hunger games scenes - the books not films)

Note to all: if you like Trudy Canavan (Black Magician Trilogy), then you are going to love this.
