Crime and Ghosts

The story was very good but the orator is terrible. She's very hard to listen too.

Enjoyable but books in wrong order

I enjoyed the series and it was nice to have an omnibus to work through but the last two books appeared first and the first two in the series were the last. Someone could look at reordering the chapters so the books play in sequence!

As with other reviews, it was good to start but...

At first I was really enjoying the boxset. The first 3 books were really good and I enjoyed the narration. Then it went sideways. it jumps back in time to book 0. Not an issue having things out of order, film series do it all the time. BUT the narrator changed as well, and I frankly didn't enjoy her narration. In fact it was too grating for me to carry on listening to. I'm sure she's done other narrations more widely well received, but this wasn't it unfortunately. The quality of the audio was also really poor, quite tinny, which definitely didn't help things. Had to give up, shame as I'd have liked to hear where it all started for the main character!

nothing special, wrong order but can't identify

overall I actually quite enjoyed this box set, however I have several negative comments:
- the narrator's voice never grew on me. I found she lacks emotion and power, and her voice grated
- the books are in the wrong order (3, 4, 0, 1, 2, if I remember correctly) , but you need to listen through to figure out what chapter number to actually start on
- in the book which was first, the protagonist's name flipped a few times between Rachel and Evelyn and I found it discombobulating

Enjoyable

I did enjoy the story, and the first narrator Tia Rider Sorensen was pleasant to listen too . Then Andrea Mitchell took over and ruined the whole experience with her deplorable narrative. I am guessing she is a failed wannabe actress , she would certainly kill any script .
This praise for Tia but please don't let Andrea narrate anything again . You feel sorry for the author having their work mutilated by such a woman .

Repetitive and a bit boring

I enjoyed the first book and the concept of the books, however I gave up during book 2 as it was so repetitive. It was how the main protagonist refers to a child’s body just pulled out a river as “now just a hunk of meat” (sooo gross and so vomit inducing) On top of that the narrators voice was very boring and even sped up to x1.2 it was hectic but still monotone. Also I’d hate to be a child in the town that this detective lives in as the mortality rate and high chance of nasty captivity experience for kids in that town is scary!
