Summary

The fight to free the Earth from alien domination began in Live Free or Die, and continued in Citadel. Now Tyler Vernon and his troops aboard the gigantic battle station Troy face a desperate battle with the forces of galactic tyranny. And the very survival of the Earth and its people is not all that is at stake. The galaxy itself must choose to live free or die - and if the tyrants win this battle, darkness will fall across the galaxy for millennia to come.

confused

The first two books were brilliant so what happened with this book ?
The book is about 16 hours long with about 15 hours devoted to south american politics that really has nothing to do with the story line , it should have been one space battle after another getting better and better instead it was boring and pointless.
Take my advice listen to the first two books and use your imagination to finish the trilogy.

What? Not sure what the Story was about

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

the end was ok but what was the rest about?

Any additional comments?

Ok so book one was good, book two seemed to put down the rest of the world and this book seems to be about south american class wars? Where did the story go? the end was good but what was this book about. I really hoped after the self indulgent stuff in book 2 this would pick up, well it was not all bad but the writer seems to have issues and brings them out in the book, sorry if for any reason there is a book 4 i won't be following it :( Having a female hero and a male hero is great ideas as in another series i am reading from this author but he really spoilt what could have been a great series for me :(

Disappointing and a bit bizarre

Loved the first book. Enjoyed the second. I love the ideas and the whole popcorn sci fi, massive super weapons, giant space battles thing. Unfortunately most this book is an attack on South American culture and one sided multiculturalism, saying how we are supposed to understand them but oh, they are the ones who would be better off adopting our way of thinking. Ok, fine, I don't really care about PC thinking, I wasn't offended, I was just bored. Seriously, it just goes on and on and on and.... It's a waste of words, and my time. It doesn't advance the main plot, at all, and if the time taken had been given to the main plot, then this book could have moved forward into really interesting territory. It could even have wrapped things up trilogy style, it could have been fun. It doesn't and isn't. When we do finally get back to space battles, I found it strangely unsatisfying, it leaves the main plot a bit unresolved and...There is no book 4. Oh, and it's all almost laughably USA-centric. So yes, author has totally lost the plot with this one.

Disappointing

After the first two books, this one was a let down. Kinda feels derogatory towards south Americans. Doesnt actually pertain a feeling of buildup for a massive finalle a trilogy deserves - and in the end doesnt deliver one. Just feels loke the book kinda fizzles out. Narration is still well done. Shame the trilogy went in order of amazing -> very good -> somehat average.

Story begins at chapter 27

16hr audio book which doesn't actually start until chapter 27, when something which isn't the cultural differences between North and South America isn't being discussed.
Mark Boyett does an amazing job as usual. For the end of a trilogy though this is a big disappointment. The ending doesn’t really close off the story, it’s left to your imagination as to what could happen next for the human race, and not in a good way. Wasting the first 26 chapters on the authors views of cultural differences, which plays no part in the rest of the book is a complete waste of people’s time.

A real shame as it was a great series of books until the last.

I've never written a negative review to date, but felt compelled to do so for this one.

Mixture of mundane and great

Overall another great story. Without giving anything away, sometimes seemed to focus on mundane things which, while mostly interesting, where still mundane. Arguably it had a little to do with the character development, but still. Only reason why I'm not giving a 5.

A very nice book

There is really only one thing wrong with this book and that is that you should read the other two first.

Troy Rising

Oakland book can't wait for the next one hope he keeps the Carrick at James Allen I'm in the next book it seems like an intelligent character and there's people like him that normally come across a UV Cup breakthrough in technology something simple that other people have overlooked

Gets a little bit slow in the middle but overall good

I have just listened to all three books one after another and I have a good series only issue I've got is the last book is a little bit slow in the middle and tends to go on too much about politics of South America, a little bit annoying that one of the characters does something that is not explained anywhere through the book overall good book with some plot issues
