Summary

The classic best seller by Benjamin Graham, perhaps the greatest investment advisor of the 20th century, The Intelligent Investor has taught and inspired hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. Since its original publication in 1949, Benjamin Graham's book has remained the most respected guide to investing, due to his timeless philosophy of "value investing", which helps protect investors against areas of (possible) substantial error and teaches them to develop long-term strategies which they will be comfortable with down the road. Among this audiobook's special features are the use of numerous comparisons of pairs of common stocks to bring out their elements of strength and weakness and the construction of investment portfolios designed to meet specific requirements of quality and price attractiveness.

Corked!

I know this book is supposed to be a classic, and I'm sure there are many valuable lessons to be extracted from it, but I think one would be better off buying the latest revision of the book rather than this audio book.

This audio book is like a good wine that has been lying too long in the cellar. It just seems so dry, and out of date, and the reader is terribly monotonous. He talks about "this tape" and refers to 1971 as "now". Come on! Get someone more lively to read it.

I listen to audio books when I'm running and have enjoyed many books on Investing that way. I've attempted to listen to this one twice, but never get past the first 30 minutes. The sound of tumbleweed in my head just becomes unbearable. I might try reading the book instead.

Excellent book but can be difficult

You'd find it hard to find a better book on value investing than this one. Written over 50 years ago there have been many newer versions printed with updates on the numbers and with recommendations from people such as Warren Buffett it has to be worth the money.

A few things you need to understand before reading/listening is what the difference between common stocks and bonds of all kinds are and also what the DJIA (Dow Jones Industrial Average) is. With these basics under your belt the book makes good listening/reading. Can be tough to get through if it's the first time you are reading about investing but keep reading/listening... you'll be glad you did.

This book won't make you rich in the short term but certainly could lead to riches in the future!! Good Luck and enjoy!

The Thumbnail sketch of the book...

They're not kidding when they call this the "abridged version of The Intelligent Investor! How do you take a 700 page book and boil it down to under 3 hours and maintain much of the content? This is good if you want the general idea of what Graham is talking about, but if you're looking for nuts and bolts... I'd look elsewhere.

very useful, unfortunately abridged

This book is extremely valuable for any investor. It gives you the plateform to become a true investor rather than speculator. But, unfortunately it is not available as unabridged. If you get unabridged than you are very lucky and go ahead beore spending your hard earned money unintelligently
