Summary
In the bitter winter of 2009, following the death of their grandmother, Erica Calcott and her sister Beth return to Storton Manor, a grand and imposing Wiltshire house where they spent their summer holidays as children.
When Erica begins to sort through her grandmother's belongings, she is flooded with memories of her childhood - and of her cousin, Henry, whose disappearance from the manor tore the family apart. Erica sets out to discover what happened to Henry - so that the past can be laid to rest, and her sister, Beth, might finally find some peace.
Gradually, as Erica begins to sift through remnants of the past, a secret family history emerges; one that stretches all the way back to turn-of-the-century Oklahoma, to a beautiful society heiress and a haunting, savage land. wonderful twists and narrator a true voice

Enganging, but overall sad
Would you consider the audio edition of The Legacy to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version, so I can not compare.

I did like the mistery and the resolution of it.

I didn't have a favourite character, as I didn't really identify with any.

A cracking story!
When I first started to read this book I wasn’t sure I would like it. However, within a few chapters I was hooked and couldn’t put it down!
Very well researched and written with a few unexpected twists. I didn’t take to all of the characters, although they were well drawn, but I suspect that was what the author intended.
A cracking story and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Excellent writing, story, and narrating
I throughly enjoyed this book, and was quite sad when it ended, which i think is always a good measure of a novel.
This was the first book i had listened to by Katherine Webb, but certainly will not be the last.
The book takes you seamlessly from 1903 to present day and back again, never loosing a thread, clear explanations of characters and background, with the odd little twist, woven in.
Very clever writing, and beautifully narrated.
Looking forward to the next book.

Took a while
I nearly returned this book as I found it difficult to get into for a while but I am so pleased I didn't. Many twists and turns which tugged at all the emotions.

Yes the Unseen. It compared well, very well written and thought through again time differences with the past and the present, always searching for the answer
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No I wanted to listen to it over different sittings

I have been very surprised to the stories how real they could be, how people would have acted in the ways katherine describes, I have enjoyed them all, I am now listening to the Half Forgotten Song and again I am really enjoying the twists and turns of the story.

What an outstanding piece of work, beautifully read evoking so many feelings. So well put together and demanding total attention as the characters and plots unfold. Such a joy to read but saddened it has ended. Thank you

Great in-depth multi-generational story
The core underlying mystery about what happened in the girls' childhood is told well and can't easily be guessed. I loved the interweaving with the stories of the previous generation grandmother and mother. The narrator distinguishes the different characters well so that it is easy to listen and to understand which generation you are following. Recommended for anyone who likes stories about the complexity of families and enjoys a good mystery.
