Summary

Winner of the 2018 Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album.

When Carrie Fisher recently discovered the journals she kept during the filming of the first Star Wars movie, she was astonished to see what they had preserved - plaintive love poems, unbridled musings with youthful naiveté, and a vulnerability that she barely recognized. Today, her fame as an author, actress, and pop-culture icon is indisputable, but in 1977, Carrie Fisher was just a (sort-of) regular teenager.

With these excerpts from her handwritten notebooks, The Princess Diarist is Fisher's intimate and revealing recollection of what happened on one of the most famous film sets of all time - and what developed behind the scenes. And today, as she reprises her most iconic role for the latest Star Wars trilogy, Fisher also ponders the joys and insanity of celebrity, and the absurdity of a life spawned by Hollywood royalty, only to be surpassed by her own outer-space royalty. Laugh-out-loud hilarious and endlessly quotable, The Princess Diarist brims with the candour and introspection of a diary while offering shrewd insight into the type of stardom that few will ever experience.

interesting but too long

An interesting book but too little material padded out to fill the time that was available.

Amazing insight into Carrie Fisher's world

I loved the book. It was extremely enjoyable, witty and funny in that special Carrie way. It also made me tear up at times, and reflect on my own life, which I definitely did not expect when I started listening to it. It was brilliant.

Brilliant..and to hear it all from her own lips.

Carrie Fisher has always been a fantastic hero of mine and this was a wonderful insight into a brief moment in time.

An intergalactic journey

A fascinating journey through a late teens and young adults life in Hollywood thrown in at the deep end and asked why she couldn’t swim

Not bad

nice witty memoir of our surely missed princess. wasnt quite what I was expecting, went into the realms of fantasy more than actually reminiscing. But fun none the less

A true Princess!

Impressed how well Carrie used words as a teen and how she shared her life with Leia. A very funny woman.

Wonderful

You have nothing but love for this book & audiobook. Carrie Fisher is not only witty, eloquent & insightful but performs the book to perfection. I have kept this audiobook for a special, uninterrupted occasion & it was even better than I could have anticipated. I almost feel bereft now it has finished & she is no longer with us. Highly recommended to Star Wars fans & non fans alike!

Carrie Fisher - The Princess Diarist

Honest book by Carrie Fisher. Talks about her life and of course a huge amount of this is STAR WARS! What she was like as a person and of course the affair with Harrison Ford.
