Summary

'Just for a moment, I was young and invincible again, back before I made the decision that changed the rest of my life....'

Susie did something that she knows she will always regret: giving her baby son up for adoption, to keep her infidelity secret from her family. Louise, Susie's daughter, feels the effects of that decision echoing down through the years - her mother has always been difficult, too strict with her but not strict enough with her sister, Grace, who is wild and out of control. And Danny, Susie's husband, adores her but has always sensed something wrong at the heart of their marriage.

When tragedy strikes the family, and a chance discovery threatens to bring the truth to light, the sisters' relationship is put to the test as they are faced with an impossible choice.

From the best-selling author of The Silent Wife, The Secret Child is a heartbreaking novel about family secrets and lies. Perfect for fans of Liane Moriarty, Jojo Moyes and Diane Chamberlain.

Oscars mum

I have loved listening to another of Kerry’s fantastic stories. So well written and I can’t wait to find out what happens but equally don’t want to finish the book. The narration by Emma is fantastic too. Looking forward to my next Kerry book.

excellent story, well narrated

I loved this book. Although a little slow at times, the characters and plot are so believable, I wanted to shout in frustration at them when they were busy stuffing up. well worth a listen especially as the narration is so good

Gripping unforgettable haunting

I loved this story and the way the author weaved this tale through the decades. I listened while walking many miles and even walked more to hear the next chapter. The narrator was so easy to listen to and did all the characters justice. Great story telling as you do invest in the characters.

It drew me in, sucked me up, and never put down

The narration in this was as ever excellent, although I struggled not to picture Susie as Maggie from the Silent Wife. Part way through this I was almost screaming at Susie. I wanted the end to come so quickly so I could learn the outcome, yet didn't want to miss a word. It is such a brilliant book, one of pure emotion from the start and one where your heart just wants to jump from your chest and hug Susie. Well done Grace, you made your family proud. I cried at the end, no mean feat. I very rarely cry.

The characters, the story, so engaging, I couldn't stop listening, thank you Kerry Fisher! it really captures the emotions that must of been felt by all the characters.

Don’t get put off

I nearly gave up listening after the first couple of hours as it seemed so negative and gloomy but I’m glad I persevered. I really felt for all the characters but I’m very glad the narrator changed to Grace’s point of view.

Secret child

I did enjoy this book. I think however that the end was rushed, all too abrupt!
