Summary
London, 1883: All is quiet at 125 Gower Street. So, when a young woman turns up at the door, imploring London's foremost personal detective, Sidney Grice, to solve her father's murder, Grice can barely disguise his glee.
Mr Nathan Garstang was found slaughtered, with no trace of a weapon or intruder. A classic locked-room case. But what piques Grice's interest is the link to the unsolved murders of Nathan's uncle, aunt and servants in the very same house....

Fabulous series of books
There is only 1 book left in this series which saddens me, as the plot lines, and characters are much loved. These books are well written, humorous and some grizzly murders thrown in. Read listen to them, they are excellent in my opinion.

This should be on TV
Another cracker of a book. It is set in Victorian England and is a cross between Sherlock Holmes and Jack the ripper. The suspense has you gripped all way through the book.
But be warned this book contains graphic nature of murder and is not for the faint hearted.

Slow burning thriller
There is an amazing intricacy to this book which builds the interest and involvement slowly but surely , and satisfies the imagination. Emma Gregory’s voice characterisations are superb!

Another masterpiece
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is the 4th in the series of the Gower Street Detective and another brillinat installment. I am a complete convert to Sydney Grice and March Middleton. When I'd finished this one I cried, "Oh! No! What am I going to do now? There are no more!!" This was, of course, very infradignatorum and also erroneous because when I signed on to find my next audiobook, I discovered that another episode was published yesterday. YIPPEE !!!!
Which character – as performed by Emma Gregory – was your favourite?
They are all brillinat read and charicatured.

Compelling, if gory in places.
There is so much to enjoy in these stories, that I keep reading them in spite of the rather gut wrenching murders. The narrator is particularly good. Neither March nor Sidney Grice are wholly sympathetic, & the Victorian world they inhabit is a long way from cosy. Yet they are vivid, often humorous, and keep you wanting to know more. Dickens meets Downton meets The Mary Russell stories of Laurie R. King.

Not the best but still really good
I'm a big fan of March Middleton and I'm facinated by Henry Grice the PERSONAL detective and I can picture Molly so clearly. l'm always sorry when I come to the end of a story.
