Summary
The stunning third novel from multiaward-nominated author Adam Brookes is paranoid, tense and spy fiction at its very finest.
In many ways Pearl Tao was a typical American child. She spent summer days at the pool, played softball and lingered at suburban barbecues in her home city of Washington, DC. Yet she is also an academic prodigy, with a university place sponsored by a secretive advanced technology corporation.

Superb Brookes
It's always fantastic to be reunited with Mangan, troubled as he is. He is handled with care by Brookes again on this adventure as he travels the globe with Patterson over seeing him and handling him carefully.

Beautiful, hard hitting and gripping story
The author was a journalist in China. This story comes across as highly plausible, realistic and believable. I am a big fan of Adam Brookes and have now read all the 3 stories in this trilogy. Perhaps a good idea to read them in order, starting with Night Heron. This is the final one in the trilogy. The narrator is good and his style does not get in the way of the story. For me it was like watching a film.
Please write more Mr Brookes!

Le Carre's True Heir?
There've been many claimants to be the true heir to John le Carre...and Adam Brookes is up there with any of them. His protagonist isn't James Bond but a flawed, rounded character being manipulated by higher authorities, with dubious values and moral compasses. Right doesn't always win out. Colin Mace's narration brings life to a range of characters, male and female, of different nationalities and ages. All in all, worthy of five stars.

Best book of the three so far.
Really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next. Now that I know the characters well from the previous two books I found that I could concentrate more on the story. Each time I finished a chapter I immediately wanted to listen to the next. The story was gripping throughout and I didn't want it to end.

Read, don't listen
The Spy's Daughter is the last of a trilogy (stand alone books but best read in order - Night Herron then Spy Games).
The narration of the Spy's Daughter if a farce.

Strange voices
It's difficult to understand why a male narrator was used for a book which has many more female characters than male. Strange Chinese accents & 'soft' voices were somewhat off putting. Some good action & espionage twists.
