Disappointed

I don't often give bad reviews but the I had really high hopes for this book. The premise of a mystery stemming from someone's dying words made my mind up to give Paige Toon a go. I can't comment on her other books but for me this one just meandered. I kept expecting some big reveal that never came. Even the possibility of an earth shattering confrontation was avoided at the end, a real shame because this book needed some grit. If you're after a 'nice' easy story this is for you. If you want something with a bit of intrigue and interest, avoid.

Paige Toon on form and very enjoyable

I’ve loved all bar one of the books I’ve listened to by Paige Toon, and this falls firmly in the thumbs firmly up category for satisfaction and enjoyment. If you’re looking for escapist, feel-good fiction without the saccharine, syrupy feel of many books in this oeuvre Toon is a strong choice and this book is absorbing and engaging from start to finish.

not my cuppa tea

Stuggling to get through this one - too sickly sweet for me I have to confess. Maybe good for an easy holiday read.

Roll yours eyes kind of read

Not one of Paige Toon best books. Really good performance but the story line isn’t all that. In fact Amber the main character comes across very annoying. Glad when it finished!

AMAZING! As expected!!

I LOVE Paige Toon... listening to her books while I drive is the best ever invention and this one was just as good as the ones I've read myself ... hope she gets more in audio book version ASAP!!!

Not as intriguing as the blurb makes it sound.

The blurb of the book makes it sound far more intriguing than it really is. A bit of false advertising. It’s basically a love story and very little to do with her mother.

A strong story with the right reader

There is always a bit of an emotional twist in Paige's books and this one doesn't disappoint. I felt that the slightly abrasive style of the reader is perfect for her character, but my experience of the book mighht have been very different without audio.
