Not up to the standard of the previous books

I like Adriana Trigiani and have read/listened to most of her books. The Shoemakers Wife is one of my favourite novels and have read it a couple of times, so I was looking forward to listening to this.
Half way through I almost stopped listening to this book as Valentina became so whiny, spoiled and annoying, I almost wondered if I was listening to the same series. She just didn’t seem to be the same funny, warm and slightly ridiculous, but likeable character of the previous books. It also lacked the humour of the previous two books in the series. The end has a twist, but not totally unexpected. It’s not awful but it’s also not awesome.
