Summary

What did she see?
It's been 10 long months since Anna Fox last left her home. Ten months during which she has haunted the rooms of her old New York house like a ghost, lost in her memories, too terrified to step outside.
Anna's lifeline to the real world is her window, where she sits day after day, watching her neighbours. When the Russells move in, Anna is instantly drawn to them. A picture-perfect family of three, they are an echo of the life that was once hers.
But one evening, a frenzied scream rips across the silence, and Anna witnesses something no one was supposed to see. Now she must do everything she can to uncover the truth about what really happened. But even if she does, will anyone believe her? And can she even trust herself?

Best Listen so Far!

What did you like most about The Woman in the Window?

It was so different to all the other so called psychological thrillers that are around at the moment and kept me riveted! I was hooked and kept listening to it through the night and could feel this woman's pain. The characters were real to me, flawed and tormented.Set amost all in one house, it was claustrophobic, atmospheric, giving a feel for Anna's agarophobia, her fears and her bravery.

What does Ann Marie Lee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

This book is brilliantly narrated by Ann Marie. She has exactly the right voice for Anna, a woman haunted by her past, trapped by her mistakes, struggling to surface and full of self doubt.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I didn't want to switch off!

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the references to some old films enjoyed by Anna such as Gaslight and Rear Window, which are also my favourites. Hitchcock could have done a good job on this book! More please!

Pretty bland

Simple story and unnecessarily long. Struggled through it. Narrator not bad but any voice will become monotonous after that long

I hoped the psychopath would win

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Toning down the histrionics of the narrator for a start. Closely followed by removing at least 80% of the totally unnecessary and floral verbiage. It was like Gerald Durrell on steroids and not nearly as entertaining.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not a best seller for sure

Would you be willing to try another one of Ann Marie Lee’s performances?

Not if I was offered it freely

What character would you cut from The Woman in the Window?

Sadly, the narrator

How disappointing!

I give up - I simply can’t finish this book it’s that bad. I was so looking forward to it but here we are at Chapter 34 and still pretty much nothing has happened. Don’t bother.
