Oh balm to my soul!
Great book and wonderful to hear the narration by Mr Carmichael. Old characters like Bunter, Mary, and truly truly stuck up Helen brilliant!!
Heartily recommend!

Jill Paton Walsh has captured the style of Dorothy Sayers writing so well it is difficult to tell who has written the book style is dated but still a good read

A great legacy - repurposed beautifully
Jill Paton Walsh has taken the essence of DLS and created a great start of Peter and Harriet’s life together. Tragic that there are only 4 books in this series, maybe another writer will get permission from the DLS estate to continue?
And having the last TV and radio Lord Peter - Ian Carmichael - read it - is phenomenal. What a loss.

Ok story
As a fan of Peter wimsey I was keen to hear this. But the mystery element that I love was swamped by the personal overly sentimental detail of Peter and Harriet's life.

Very convincing, great narrator
Love this story, could have been DLS.
The story is well performed and the characters nicely separated.
Grab this while you can as audible seems to be removing all the Carmichael versions or bbc versions of these Lord Peter novels and the new female narrator is just wrong.

Long winded but intriguing
There’s an awful lot of guff for most of this book, but those of us who admire and follow Dorothy Sayers work will no doubt continue through it to its conclusion. There is also a softness and a romanticism not usually associated with Ms Sayers , which I quite enjoyed. The story was more about upper class living between the wars than about a detective story, but I kept on listening and am pleased it had a very satisfying ending.

Wonderfully read by Ian Carmichael even if not the strongest of Dorothy Sayers Wimsey books
Ian Carmichael read beautifully and with much more sensitivity than I expected. Definitely one to which I will listen again

Wonderful book
I thoroughly enjoyed this book having at first been very doubtful of starting on it.as I had so loved the Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane original novels by Dorothy L Sayers However I shall now be purchasing the next novel in this series and that is surely the best compliment I can give!
