Summary

Tainted by scandal, Raven Eyez leaves New York to return to her mother's hometown of Heartsbridge, Texas, penniless with her reputation and career in tatters. If that wasn't bad enough, she reads in a celebrity magazine that her childhood sweetheart, who broke her heart five years ago, is getting married.

The stress is unbearable, and when she starts hearing voices whispering for her to right a wrong she has no recollection of making, she's sure she is going mad. Things go from weird to completely unbelievable when an innocent trip to a diner leaves her stranded in Heartsbridge in the year 1880.

Lance Thornton suspects his neighbors helped his fiancée leave him at the altar, so he's determined to ruin them. On his way to the bank to insist they foreclose on them for a loan he made, he bumps into Raven, mistaking her for his runaway bride, Charlotte. He decides he's not letting her get away this time, and refuses to listen to any of her claims that she isn't who he thinks she is and that she is from the future.

He's going to make this woman pay for embarrassing him in front of the entire town. Can Raven convince Lance he's seeking revenge on the wrong woman?

A really cute trip to the past!

This is a time travel book and I enjoyed the way the author has given us such a fantasy to listen to. Raven's life is not going the way she thought it would and after the death of her father she decides to go back to her little hometown. It seems this was the worst time for her to be back home as her ex is getting married today. I enjoyed getting to know Raven and the Lance of the past as well as Rider another person on the time travel journey. I want to listen to more in this series to find out what is going to happen next, although you do need to know this is a stand alone book.
I received a free code for this book from Audiobooks Unleashed to listen to on Audible. This review is my own honest opinion.

Review

I absolutely loved this story it is wonderfully romantic and magical. I smiled all the way through listening to it, I thought it was so good. It is a real feel good story and it was presented beautifully. I wish it had been a little longer because I liked it so much.

A good book.

Any additional comments?

I was getting into the book when 1880 Lance did something that surprised me. I wasn't happy with his behavior and I must admit it put me off him. However as the story progresses he changes and we see why he did what he did. However I would not have forgiven him so easily.

I am interested to find out what happens to the other characters in the story. Looking forward to the next book.

Interesting but not quite sure.

For the most part, I enjoyed the book but i am still not sure if I found 1880 Lance to be a bit over the top or not. I did find him quite unnecessarily rough but he seemed to settle down as the story progressed. Also, the plot explains his insecurities but I am not convinced it justifies his behaviour. Raven holds her own and even gives it back to him a few times. She is much more understanding and forgiving than expected, under the circumstances. That said, the time travel element and spirits communicating from across the divide were interesting. And the peripheral characters have a lot of potential. I did struggle with parts of the story, but I am still curious to know what happens to the other characters in the series. It is definitely interesting.
