Summary

When Charlotte Sawyer is unable to contact her step-sister, Jocelyn, to tell her that one her closest friends was found dead, she discovers that Jocelyn has vanished.
Beautiful, brilliant - and reckless - Jocelyn has gone off the grid before, but never like this. In a desperate effort to find her, Charlotte joins forces with Max Cutler, a struggling PI who recently moved to Seattle after his previous career as a criminal profiler went down in flames - literally. Burned out, divorced and almost broke, Max needs the job.
After surviving a near-fatal attack, Charlotte and Max turn to Jocelyn's closest friends, women in a Seattle-based online investment club, for answers. But what they find is chilling. When her uneasy alliance with Max turns into a full-blown affair, Charlotte has no choice but to trust him with her life. For the shadows of Jocelyn's past are threatening to consume her - and anyone else who gets in their way.

Very pedestrian

The idea for the story seemed interesting and it had the potential to be, but every single emotion, thought or action of both the heroine and hero is described in agonisingly long drawn out detail, and to make matters worse repeats itself over and over and over again. I started skipping through sections the story and every time I started again there she was she describing a thought or feeling. Turned out it was a (predictable) romance story and not even a good one at that.

Jayne Ann Krentz is back on form

Would you listen to When All the Girls Have Gone again? Why?

Well, I can answer this question easily as I have already listened to it twice and I am currently reading the book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of When All the Girls Have Gone?

I can't say without spoiling the ending - sorry.

Have you listened to any of Amanda Leigh Cobb’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I found Amanda Leigh Cobb's voice very pleasant to listen to, she managed to differentiate between all the various characters so you always knew who was talking. It compares very favourably to her other performances.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes absolutely, unfortunately one has to sleep sometime.

Any additional comments?

I am a fan of Jayne Ann Krentz, having read nearly all her novels over the course of many years. She is well and truly back on form, some of her recent novels (while still good reads and ten times better then some other authors who could do with the services of a decent editor) have not been up to her normal standard. Interesting characters, great story with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the very end. Excellent.

Another fantastic story

The characters come to life off the pages of the story. With a mystery and romance thrown in to boot. The plot has twists and turns, keeping the reader unable to put the book down, until the final pages. Great characters and plot. Fell in love with the characters and of course the romantic suspense. Can't wait to see if there is a sequel???

very disappointing

Ms. Krentz has been a favorite of mine for many years, but this is not even remotely up to her standards. I actually went back to look at the copyright; I thought perhaps it was one of her first efforts and had been re-released. The characters are dull; the dialogue is boring, and there's no chemistry between the heroine and hero. I'd recommend any of her other books over this one.
