Perfect compliment to "Women Food & God"

I listened to this after listening to one of Geneen's more recent titles, Women, Food & God, and found it a fantastic compliment to it. It's different in that is's more like a study course, and is comprised of a series of guided visualisations, which are best listened to when you have time to give them your full attention and can ideally lie down and close your eyes.

The programme basically takes you through the authors 7 guidelines, and discusses them point by point. Very insightful, very helpful, and the eating meditation has changed the way I eat from the moment I listened to it! Ditch the diets, and give this and Geneen's other titles a try!

Spiritual and incredibly practical

While this information may seem basic when you listen to it, I never received the message of total self acceptance when it came to my food choices. As a restrictive eater, this was a revelation. I was shocked to discover when I gave myself permission to eat what I want and how much I wanted, I didn't eat nearly as much as I thought I would.

I started trying out the guidelines for a few days and even though you can eat whatever you want, it was difficult for me to stop using food as an emotional coping mechanism. You can only eat when you are hungry, so emotional eating has to go and I'm still struggling with that.

This is such a powerful book.

loved this book

I loved this book, always felt there has to be a better way to take care of myself than diets and then overeating. better than obsessing about food any day.

great book

What made the experience of listening to When Food is Food & Love is Love the most enjoyable?

I think geneen roth is an inspirational woman. I am currently going through problems she went through so I can really relate to her.

What about Geneen Roth’s performance did you like?

I love that she helps others with the same problem. It really is an eye opener.

More a self help programme rather than a book!

There's some lovely stuff here. I think Geneen Roth has got great ideas and a very compassionate manner. I love her thoughts on the super ego, and the way women relate to food. I find her very helpful and thought provoking.



Some of it is designed for you to meditate, or sit and do an exercise, or workbook, which didn't work that well for me in audio format. It's for that reason, and the cheesiness, that I give it four stars.

Don't bother

I haven't made it to the end of this book yet as the woman's voice is so irritating! Basically she just tells you to eat when you're hungry, stop eating when you're not hungry anymore and eat what your body wants. It's simple and it doesn't work. If it did there would be no such things as diets!
