Summary
Dylan Mint has Tourette's. His life is a constant battle to keep the bad stuff in - the swearing, the tics, the howling dog that seems to escape whenever he gets stressed. But a routine visit to the hospital changes everything. Overhearing a hushed conversation between the doctor and his mum, Dylan discovers that he's going to die in March. So he makes a list of things he must do before he dies: First, he wants to have real sex with gorgeous Michelle Malloy; Second, he's got to find his autistic best friend Amir a new best bud; Third, he's got to get his dad back home from the army so they can say goodbye properly. It's not a long list, but it's ambitious, and he doesn't have much time. Sometimes you've just got to go for it - no holding back - and see what happens....

Fantastic
Very enjoable book. Story is seeing through teenage boy's eyes with turrets and slight learning difficulty, telling a story of his teenage years.

An unexpected delight!

Yes - this was a delightful read, which challenges stereotypes that can suggest that those with disabilities don't feel the same way as the rest of us.

The lovely portrait of the relationship between mother and son!

Laughed out loud over and over again but also felt cross at the challenges that society can present for people who don't always conform to our expectations!

My iPad volume slipped on in error in a meeting ....the stream of bad language emitted caused amusement and embaressment in equal measure!

Brilliant book, highly recomend it.
Well written, humourous - laugh out loud at times - book, but also poignant and tender in stark contrast to the hero's in your face bad language.

It was hilarious A1
I read this book 4 years ago and was over the moon when I came across it here. The book is the most funniest thing I ever read to this day, I don't think I will ever find a funnier book EVER!!
The only criticism I have is the narrator is as dry and boring as they come! There's no emotion!! So much so I re read the book as I found it funnier than listening too it.

Enjoyable and Informative
Would you consider the audio edition of When Mr. Dog Bites to be better than the print version?
The story is told from the perspective of the person suffering from Tourettes. Have not read the print version so cannot comment.
What did you like best about this story?
It gives an insight of how it feels and the diificulties encountered by people suffering from Tourettes. Often a condition which is met with hilarity and lack of insight by people who have no insight of the true meaning of the suffering of those who have to bear it.

When Mr. Dog Bites - what a brilliant funny, sad, warm book
Didn't take me long to listen to this book, I couldn't put it down (except when sleeping).
Taking a peep into teens with various disabilities was an eye opener.
Narration by Julian Elfer was brilliant
Reason I didn't give this book 5 star rating was that the production needed to be turned up a notch, I had to listen to it on full volume.

F!@&ing Tourette’s
I felt guilty laughing at poor Dylan and his friends but it was written so honestly and simply that it felt appropriate.
The coming of age embarrassèrent was cringeworthy and side splitting at the same time, as for the language, it would make a nun chop off her ears.
Despite the above there was sensitivity too. Poor Dylan I do not mean to laugh, but at least I am laughing with you not at you.
Well done to the author Brian Conaghan for delivering a sensitive subject in the form of Dylan Mint and friends.
Julian Elfers, narration was superb, I am not sure how he managed all that swearing, it made a Navvy look like he had been to scout camp.
