Summary

Pattie Boyd was the Queen of the 60s and beyond...a drop-dead gorgeous model, photographer, and the inspiration for the timeless songs "Something", "Layla", and "Wonderful Tonight". Her story is one of drama, struggle, and, ultimately, affirmation, but her struggles (against addiction, tragedy, infertility) were lived with two of the 20th century's greatest musical icons: her husbands George Harrison and Eric Clapton.

Now, after 40 years, she tells her extraordinary story. From growing up in Kenya in a privileged but broken home, becoming a 60s supermodel, working with David Bailey and Ozzie Clarke, and meeting the Beatles, to marriage to George and then Eric, to the accidents and brushes with tragedy, her own and Eric's, this is a mesmerising, human story.

Written with the acclaimed biographer and journalist Penny Junor, Wonderful Today is rich and raw, as well as funny, heartbreaking, and heartwarming.

Massively abridged!!!

Over in a moment. Why narrate an audio book if you can't be bothered to narrate all of it? Nice that Patti Boyd read it herself, but it sounded as if she were reading her school essay to the class. A little rehearsal and coaching wouldn't have gone amiss. It is her very own audible book afterall. I could have put up with the school girl narration, but very disappointed in the length. It was just a large excerpt of the book, not THE book. So now, if I want to actually read the book, I still have to buy it and read it myself.

Beautiful book

I admired Pattie before getting into her autobiography - now I love her more than ever! Truly, she inspires me with her style. She really does seem like such a strong and kind woman. It can't be easy to share such sensitive details about one's relationships and hardships, and I admire her for doing so in this book. I feel grateful to have had the pleasure of hearing her read the story of her life.

Wonderful Tonight, by Pattie Boyd

As soon as I found out that Pattie Boyd had written an autobiography, I bought it. I started it almost immediately, and fell in love instantly. Not just with Pattie's life, but with her words. From growing up in Kenya as a child with her grandparents, parents and siblings, to the small bungalow post-Eric-and-George, Pattie has led quite the life, and it was honestly so amazing to be able to read about it.
I went in with almost no details about the ex-model, and came out feeling as though I could write a thesis with the amount of information I had been given... but still feeling as though I had not been given enough. Which I will admit, is the only thing that I found frustrating about the book - it left me wanting more. I need another book. 297 pages weren't enough.
I finished the book in two days, and my every thought since then has been about the life led by Ms Boyd. She was there for it all; from her days as an actress on The Beatles' first film, 'A Hard Day's Night', to the unfortunate death of George Harrison in 2001, and even afterwards. What a treat it was to learn more about the woman who, along with women like Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy, defined the 1960s. A woman who put a face to the typical 'female look' of that era. Pattie Boyd was among those who defined a generation of women, and it was so interesting to learn more about her.
I was particularly interested in her relationships with George Harrison, as I imagine most Beatles fans would be, and also with Eric Clapton. Her words were no holds barred, and everything was written as honestly could be, even if at times, there were obvious places where Pattie could have lied a little to maintain the gossamer images of such stellar musicians.
That is what I appreciated - she didn't lie.
Everything was the truth. Or if it isn't, then it isn't obvious. I am so glad that Pattie Boyd took the time to write her autobiography and give further insight into the lives of two of rock's most well known names, as well as herself. Pattie Boyd inspired young women then, and she continues to do so now - including myself.
I look forward to reading any future titles

Totally Wonderful

Beautifully written and read. A charming insight into her world. Loved it. My only criticism is how short it was

Disappointing

Lack lustre bio read in a Sloaney voice. Yes she was cheated on but if you marry a rock star what do you expect?

Loved this book.

This gives a great insight to the lives of those at the crest of the pop music wave in the 60's & 70's.
Great respect for Pattie after surviving that roller coaster life she went through during those years.
