She actually has a boyfriend...or two. Then the unthinkable happens: Human teenagers are being killed, and all the evidence points to the House of Night. While danger stalks the humans from Zoey's old life, she begins to realize that the very powers that make her so unique might also threaten those she loves. As with Marked, I found this book gripping, although it took a little longer for me to get into. While I appreciate the books are being told from a teenager's point of view and therefore have to sound like that, I think it was over done in certain places. The use of words like 'totally' and 'gazilian' as well as made up words like 'gihugic' did start to grow a bit repetative. While I don't generally approve of books where a girl strings several guys along, I have to accept that it makes for a more interesting story. What I like the most about this series is my inability to predict what will happen at any given moment. I've always hated books where you've worked out the plot long before the big reveal, and these Authors aren't above throwing in the shock factor when it sutes them. Fans who liked Marked will enjoy this title and will eagerly snap up the next in the series.
