Publisher's Summary

Follow the continuing adventures of 14-year-old Matt Freeman in this unabridged reading by Paul Panting.
Matt thinks his days of battling evil are over after his experiences at Raven's Gate. But soon he is pulled into another horrifying adventure when he discovers a second gate exists. Matt and his friend Richard travel to Peru and, assisted by a secret organisation known as the Nexus, follow a series of clues to the gate's whereabouts. But there is a traitor in the Nexus....
Richard is kidnapped, but Matt escapes with the help of Pablo, a local boy. The pair travel to the Nazca desert and Matt realizes the horrifying truth: the Nazca lines are the second gate - and it is about to open. But, this time, will he have the strength to prevent it?

What the Critics Say

"Matt Freeman's adventures eclipse even those of the formidable Alex Rider." ( The Scotsman)
"Though this is the second instalment in this series, new readers will catch on quickly. The plot turns and emotional relationships will more than satisfy thrill seekers, especially those already into Horowitz's Alex Rider series. A must-have for reluctant, middle-grade boys." ( School Library Journal)

Exciting adventure!

Would you listen to Evil Star again? Why?

Absolutely! It was beautifully narrated and a gripping story from start to finish

What was one of the most memorable moments of Evil Star?

All of the scenes in the towns and wilderness of Peru - I loved getting a feel for Cusco, Lima and Nazca

What does Paul Panting bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Excellent pacing and expression. His voice helped to accentuate certain parts of the story and brought the characters accents and intonation to life.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were plenty of moments that gripped me and had me fascinated, but not 'moved' as such

Excellent adventure story for young people

An excellent sequel to Ravens' Gate. This adventure continues where Ravens' Gate left off. Starts off in York England and finishes in Peru. Lots of scary scenes and high adventure. My 10 year old really enjoyed it. Just scary enough without going too far.
