Summary

A New York Times bestseller • Winner of the Michael L. Printz Award • A Stonewall Honor Book

The radiant, award-winning story of first love, family, loss, and betrayal for fans of John Green, Becky Albertalli, and Adam Silvera

"Dazzling."—The New York Times Book Review
"A blazing prismatic explosion of color."—Entertainment Weekly

“We were all heading for each other on a collision course, no matter what. Maybe some people are just meant to be in the same story.”

At first, Jude and her twin brother are NoahandJude; inseparable. Noah draws constantly and is falling in love with the charismatic boy next door, while daredevil Jude wears red-red lipstick, cliff-dives, and does all the talking for both of them.

Years later, they are barely speaking. Something has happened to change the twins in different yet equally devastating ways . . . but then Jude meets an intriguing, irresistible boy and a mysterious new mentor.

The early years are Noah’s to tell; the later years are Jude’s. But they each have only half the story, and if they can only find their way back to one another, they’ll have a chance to remake their world.

From the acclaimed author of The Sky Is Everywhere, this exhilarating novel will leave you breathless and teary and laughing—often all at once.

Great story but shame about the British accent.

I absolutely loved the story and could barely stand to pause it for work having played it in the car. However, upon first hearing the attempt at a British accent (male narrator) I nearly stopped listening. It was truly horrific and very hard to listen to if you have any idea what the accent should sound like. Please, for the love of God, stop hiring people who can't do it well. It makes it nearly unlistenable. Luckily, the female narrator was better and was somewhat closer to getting it right and she for the most part continued that role. Please invest some time in getting it right as the British market won't all persevere with listening to it.

Original, entralling and memorable

Any additional comments?

The story is just so good. An original and complex story of love and loves of every kind, and a story about art and expression. Carefully chosen and created characters weave in and through each other's lives with truth and lies, bringing surprises, tragedy and joy. All this and well read by two narrators (one for Noah, one for Jude) whose only real faults were the English accents - are they really that hard? ;) I'd recommend this book to anyone. A must read.

A twice-over listen!

What did you like most about I'll Give You the Sun?

This was such a satisfying, enthralling story. I loved and empathised with the main characters, and found I really cared about what happened to them.

What did you like best about this story?

The complicated relationships, beautifully interwoven in the plot line, and the flawed but totally likeable characters. It explored the love, resentment, betrayal, guilt and remorse within the family in such heartbreaking colour. I loved this book.

Which character – as performed by Julia Whelan and Jesse Bernstein – was your favourite?

I thought both were extremely well performed - the narration was perfect and very sensitively read. I'd find it hard to choose between the two,
Julia made Jude come to life in my mind, and I loved Jesse's thoughtful reading of Noah.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I listened to it over about three days, and immediately listened to it a second time as I loved it so much and didn't want to let it go.

Any additional comments?

I look forward to further books by Jandy.

I don't understand it

I am giving up with about 5 hours to go. I've replayed parts to see if I missed anything. No idea why there are so many rave reviews. Awful.

The accents are AWFUL

The story is so incredibly beautiful and wonderfully written. It breaks my heart that the narrating was so bad

Slow start but became interesting.

Enjoyed the middle and end of this book. Very poignant at times. As mentioned in other reviews the accents were terrible especially the one done from Noah's point of view of the British guy.

So beautifully written, and the narrators do a great job. Would definitely recommend and will be checking out other titles by the same author.

Beautiful book!

I loved everything about this novel! Literally. The language is achingly beautiful, the imageries are mind blowing, the story is sweet... This one is nit for one read, I know I am going to revisit it several times. 😊
